When Alissa arrived back to Elena's house, the front door was wide open.
Elena would never be that careless. Alissa thought.
She found a note pinned to the fridge, it read :
Dear Alissa,
It's true. You and I are sisters. It's very complicated. But there's also something else you should know. Dark things exist in the world. Things our parents probably read to us when we were kids. Things like vampires, and werewolves, and witches. And curses. Some you can trust. Like Stefan, Damon, Caroline and Bonnie. But some, not so much.
I don't have much time now, but know this,
I am sorry for having to keep this from you, I found out the truth as soon as you came in to town, and tonight, may be my last, if we don't find a way, so if it is, take care of everyone for me. Take care of Jeremy, he'll say he's okay when he's really not, look after him. Because you'll be all he has.

Alissa gasped aloud at the revelation in the letter, but it all made sense now. The secret conversations that stopped when she entered the room. But she knew one thing. She has to find Elena. And save her. Before it was too late.
