The young troll exhaled happily as she looked around her brand new loft. It was so nice, and roomy. For now, it was quite bare, and not very homely. But she'd fix that soon. Her many moving boxes lay all over the light wooden floor, stacked up upon another. She was almost done sorting the boxes that belonged in all of the mandatory rooms. She smiled at the room names written in her light green sharpie. Gog, did she have work to do. She still had to put a few of the last boxes in the rooms they belonged in, and she wanted to at least put the dishes away to get a start on unpacking. She was getting impatient though. The whole reason she came here to Texas and almost her whole world was only two blocks away. His name was Dave Strider, and she couldn't wait to see him. It had been monthes since their last visit. She missed him everyday.

She giggled as she almost sighed dreamily, at thought of his name. They had been matesprits for two whole years now! They had met through Nepeta's good friend, Terezi. She had encoraged her to go talk to Dave in the first place. Assuring Nepeta how cool he was, and how fun he was to be around. Also being sure to tell her everything would be fine, considering the fact that Dave was Terezi's ex...No. No negative thoughts.

Nepeta still remembered the day she met him like it was yesterday. Even though she thought that was silly. It was 2 years ago. Terezi had convinced Nep to go out with her, Kanaya, Rose, Jade, Feferi, and Vriska to meet with some of their guy friends. Everyone had met up at Karkat's hive. Dave was sitting at the end of the couch being unsociable, and not talking to anyone. He gave off such angry vibes, so even though Nepeta found herself admiring him, she was afraid he wouldn't want to talk to her. But with Terezi's help, Nep eventually worked up enough courage to go over and talk to him.

She stalked over, trying to appear calm, even though her stomach was doing backflips. She swiftly sat down next to him. He looked over at her and she smiled shyly at him.

"Hi, my name's Nepeta." The tip of her tail twitched nervously as she waited for his response. He didn't take too long to deliver. He flashed her a little smile, no teeth though.
"Sup, I'm Dave." Her own smile widened.
"Are mew ok? You're reminding me of an angry wallflower," she giggled.
"I like it." The corner of his mouth rose in a smirk as the conversation kicked off.

He told her how his friend John had convinced him to come out tonight. By convinced, he explained how John had basically dragged him. All Dave had wanted to do that night was chill and create some more of his 'sick beats' as he called them.

"I never know why I come to these stupid things." He'd said.

He also meantioned how his brother Dirk, who he lived with, had broken his favorite katana earlier.

"I mean, the thing was a piece of shit, just like all the rest but I had a sentimental connection with it." He meaningfully paused.
"When that silver blade shattered it was just like a mother losing their god damn child, ya know? I have felt true pain and fathomed unfathomable sadness. Shit was downright tragic."

Nepeta listened intently, and smiled at his long silly descriptions he gave about almost everything. She told him a little about herself, and her moirail Equius, who was currently on a date with her other close friend, Aradia.

Neither of them moved from that couch all night as they talked. Both grinned at each other as they sat up, turned towards each other in excited conversation, tucked happily inside their own little world. Both feeding off of the other's energy. At the end of the night, they'd given each other their pesterchums, and talked almost everyday. Five months after that, Dave had finally asked her out, making her the happiest cat in the world.

Since then, they would video chat constantly, and Dave would show her his beats more often. Hell, Dave would even make songs for her. He didn't do that for just anyone. Dave even showed her his eyes. The couple shared many good times, but the best times were when she visited. They would be inseparable, spending hours on the roof, brushing fingertips and burning each others features into their memories until the stars came out, and the city lights lit up their world. Those times were pure bliss. No interruptions, no one else. Just them.
