Lindsey gripped the sheering wheel of his car tightly; he didn’t know why he was so nervous. It’s not like he was meeting someone brand new. But them again, he sort of was. Stevie hadn’t been his Stevie for over 10 years but now she was back. It was just like meeting Stevie as new person all over again. He stopped the car outside the gates of Stevie house, reaching out of his window the press the intercom button. “Hello?” Lori’s voice buzzed out of the little speaker. “Hello again, stranger.” Lindsey said, his nerves easing. Lori laughed. “Come on in.” The intercom buzzed and the gates began to open. Lindsey drove up onto Stevie’s drive, where he was met by a camper van, a very happy Christopher Nicks and a very excited little Jessica. Lindsey parked his car and got out. “Hey, man. How’s it going?” Lindsey asked, giving Christopher a hug. “Hey, Linds. It’s great. We’re just getting ready to go out for the day, aren’t we honey?” The two men looked down at little Jessica, who nodded shyly at Lindsey. “Do you remember Lindsey, Jess?” Christopher asked his daughter. Jessica nodded. “You’re the one aunt Stevie talks about a lot.” Lindsey raised his eyebrows. “Does she?” He knelt down in front of Jessica. “What does she say about me, Jess?” Lindsey asked sweetly, smiling at the little girl. “She says that she loves you a lot. But sometimes you get on her nerves.”  Lindsey looked up at Christopher, who nodded and smiled, acknowledging the true to Jessica’s words. Lori suddenly joined them. “Hi Linds.” She greeted him, giving him a hug as he stood up. “Hey Lori. You were right; your little girl is a stunner.” Jessica beamed as Christopher picked her up. Lori led Lindsey to the front door. “She’s by the pool. You remember your way there, don’t you?” Lindsey nodded. Giving one last hug to Lori and a wave to Christopher and Jessica, he walked into the house, closing the door behind him.

He walked slowly through the house, nervously playing with his car keys. Upon entering the kitchen, he saw through into the garden. He smiled as he spotted the familiar blonde hair poking out from behind the back of a sun lounger. Leaving his keys and wallet in the kitchen, he put his sunglasses on and walked out into the back garden.

Stevie laid still, her eyes closed, letting the hot Californian sunshine warm her. She heard some approach; someone she knew wasn’t one of her three houseguests. “Whoever it is, take what you want and get out.” Stevie said, her eyes remaining closed. “Where’s the fun in that?” A voice said from behind. Stevie eyes shot open and she bolted upright to look behind her. Lindsey stood not far away, his usual attire of a thin, white cotton shirt and blue jeans never failing to make Stevie’s under laying feelings twitch with desire. He smiled at her, his crooked grin still managing to make her knees go weak. ‘Thank my lucky stars I’m sitting down.’ She thought, never taking her eyes off Lindsey’s sunglasses clad face. “What’re you doing here, Lindsey?” Stevie asked, no particular emotion in her words. Lindsey took a step forward. “Oh, may I?” He asked, pointing to a second sun lounger beside the one that Stevie was still sat on. Stevie nodded and watched as Lindsey walked over and sat opposite her. “Well? What’re you doing here, Lindsey?” Stevie repeated. “I saw you on MTV yesterday.” “So?” “I thought you looked well... I just wanted to see you. You’re okay now, right?” Stevie nodded. “No more coke? No more klonopin?” Lindsey asked. Stevie looked at him. “No.” She replied firmly. Lindsey nodded. “Good. So…” “So what?” “So… you’re back then?” Stevie softened, her wall slowly going down. “Yes. I’m back.” Lindsey grinned again. Stevie watched as a single tear ran down his cheek. “Oh, c’mon Lindsey. There’s no need to cry!” Lindsey laughed, whipping the tear away. “There’s every reason to cry, Stevie! You’re back!” He leant forward. “I thought I’d lost you for good this time.” He said, lowering his voice. Stevie smiled and leant forward so that their face was only inches apart. “I thought I’d lost me too.” They laughed at the serious turn their meeting had taken. They began to talk like it was old times, reminiscing on their first meeting, their time in early bands and the few good memories they had of being in Fleetwood Mac.
