In the mid-morning sun, a brunette girl sits on the edge of a single story building holding a guitar and looking down at the ground below her. The ground below her, where at least twenty zombies were straining trying to get their hands on her. She was slightly entertained as she kept strumming her guitar to the tune of a pop song she had loved before this apocalypse madness had started. From the edge of her vision, she saw the glint of metal and when she looked over she saw a group of people, living people, walking towards her in astonishment. She smiled and waved before grabbing the ladder she had brought up with her, packing up the stuff she had brought to the roof, and slid down the ladder with both her hands and feet sliding down the outer edge of the metal ladder. She grabs her phone, and pressing a button music begins to blast from a black truck sitting across the street from the store.
"Hide" she yelled to the group, who thankfully listened and hid as she walked over towards her truck to put away her guitar, and grabbed her sword from where it rested in the bed of the truck. She walked to the beat of the music over to the zombies and one by one took them all out, and when she was done she turned around as the song ended and jogged over to the group of astonished survivors to jump into the bed of the truck to put her sword in the metal box holding all of her weapons. Finally she turned towards them, and jumped down with a smile.
"What were you doing up there?" a women with dark skin asked me while everyone else just kept staring at me. I just laughed and walked up to her and held out my hand with a smile.
"Just found somewhere they couldn't get to me, and my name's tink." At the sound of my name I could see recognition on the face of the old man with longish white hair.
"Hey, didn't the kid talk about a girl named tink, said she was his girl, they met day one." I smiled even bigger at the statement.
"You know Ten? When did you see him last? Is he with your group? How long have you known him?" Before any of them could answer any of my questions, the old man turned around and saw something behind them.
"Here he comes, you can see for yourself." I walked past him and saw him. The messy black hair, the beautiful blue-grey eyes, and that gorgeous sniper rifle in his arms. I started walking towards him and when he saw me he stopped walking in shock, which is when I stopped walking with a small smile on my face. After standing in shock for a few seconds, he started walking fast towards me and I waited for him to get closer before I started walking too. When I got to him he reached out to me and I grabbed the gun out of his hands instead with a grin, before putting it on my back and jumping into his arms, wrapping my arms around his neck as he caught me and buried his face in my neck.
"I missed you tommy." I whispered to him.
"I missed you to ava." He whispered back.
Eventually he put me down and pulled me over to the group with a smile never letting his arm drop from around my waist. I laughed and let him drag me to meet his friends, and when we got there they were still just staring at me, looking between us.
"This is Ava Dixon, call her tink, my fiancé." After he said that, a red-headed girl walked over and poked him in the chest annoyed.
"I gave you the talk!" Addy says, narrowing her eyes.
"I didn't want to be rude." He says, smiling apologetically, tightening the grip with his arm around my waist. I laugh and walk out of his grip towards my car to put his gun on top of my weapon's chest in the bed of the truck. After I set it down I turn to them, and he just smiles before jumping into the bed after me.
I turn to the rest of them, "the only rule of the truck, is that it is only driven by women. Well that and don't touch the radio because most of the time it's tied to the loudspeakers on the side of the car, y'all are welcome to join me and the beast on our travels to wherever it is y'all are goin'." After that, they all smiled and piled into either the cab, or the bed, and I walked over to the women I now know as warren, and hand her the keys. "You are obviously in charge, so I assume that you know how to drive a truck." She laughed and nodded before getting into the driver's seat. I sat down next to tommy and grabbed my guitar. I looked over at the other couple in the truck bed with us and smiled at the girl. I felt tommy's arm go around my shoulder, and I leaned into him and began strumming the guitar.
