Scares Not Wounds

There's a reason
I'm so strong
Because the black leather whip
That became my ancestors best friend
Smoothing his lips upon his back everyday
Slicing open a wound
Releasing the sunshine
That makes so many of us Burt back

I knew it wasn't global warming
It was retaliation for the
Days, weeks, months, years, and decades
That we spent
With open wounds on our backs
Devils dancing on the fingertips
Of  once flesh
And the sun leaning on my back
As if masa ordered him too

There's a reason I'm so strong
Skin thicken
With an impenetrable surface to words
Sticks and stone baby
Or should I say whips and Cotten

Let your hair curl
As if war paint
Go sleeveless
As if the sun ripped him
Bulges out of you
Wanting  to  release it self
Let your back show
As if wounds heal
Because wounds heal
But scares do not

I am his dividen
I am her dividen
And the once insurmountable pain
Is just scares
There to retrospect
And better our selves
