[3rd Person POV]
Rin and Kyoio started to walk to the small tavern just on the outskirts of town. They arrived in front of the two wooden doors and slowly pushed them open. Sounds of people talking filled their ears. There was only one man employee and that was the host who greeted them with a gentle smile.
[Kyoio's POV]
"How may I help you?" The male NPC asked. I opened my mouh to answer him but Rin interrupted me.
"Table for two, please!" The NPC host nodded and said, "Please follow me then." As Rin and I walked past filled tables I noticed something. This restaraunt was filled with waitresses. As in females. As if my day couldn't get any worse.
We arrived at a small booth table way in the back. I scooted myself in and Rin did the same right across from me. I almost jumped when she yelled.
"Excuse me!" Rin waved to one of the waitresses. How is she so hyper? I shook the thought aside as the female arrived at our table.
"Ah, welcome. I'll be your waitress this evening. Can I start you off with something to drink?" She curiously looked at the both of us.
"W-water..." I seem to have croaked out.
"I'll have a water too, please."
The waitress scribbles things down in her notebook and looks back up at us with a smile. "I'll be right back wih your drinks." She walks away from the table and vanishes into the crowd of other waitresses in the kitchen.
I sigh and look across from me at the guy who turned out to be a girl. I never really looked close at the details on her face. She had dark blueish, purple hair that hung down just below her shoulders. She had brown eyes that looked as if you would get lost in them. I sigh and think to myself. I'm just dwelling on things like always...but...out of all people, why a girl?
Rin quickly looks up and exclaims, "You know, I've always wanted to eat out with someone!"
I frown. "Haven't y-you eaten out b-before?"
"Well, yea, but I mean with just two people. My family doesn't count." She smiles at me and I just nod.
The waitress finally arrives with our drinks and places the glasses that were filled with a clear substance in front of us. "Here is your water." She simply says. "Would you like to order now or do you need more time?"
"We would like some more time please." Rin says.
The waitress bows and walks off again as I pick up the menu, searching for something to eat. Rin does the same.
A few minutes go by and she places her menu down on the table. "I think I'll have a pork sandwich." She pauses and looks at me. "What about you?" I place my menu down aswell.
"I'll j-just have the s-same..."
She nods and looks out the window. "So... Kyoio."
"Y-yea..?"
She rests her chin on her hand. "What's your real life like?" Rin pauses and notices her mistake. "I didn't mean to be rude." It was considered rude to ask about other people's lives in the IRL world. I just shake it off. It doesn't bother me all that much.
"It's...It's p-pretty devastate I guess... I have a-anxiety problems... I-I only live with my older brother since I never knew my parents."
"Anxiety..?" Rin snaps her fingers as if she just solved a math problem. "So that's why you're so awkward!"
I nod. "Y-ea... I h-have a few reasons why... I am terrible w-with girls f-for one..."
"You're so cute, bro!" She giggles. I blush and look away.
"W-what about you...?"
"Hm... let's see..." Rin taps her fingers across her chin. "I have two youger twin brothers and no friends at school."
"Hehe... I don't have f-friends either..."
She laughs. "We're like the same person!"
"Ah... Rin... I have a question."
Her head cocks to one side.
"How are you still happy? W-we just found out we're stuck in this virtual reality where we could die at any given moment... H-how can you smile?"
She sighs and lowers her gaze. "You wanna know the truth, Kyoko?" I nod. "I'm really scared of this whole idea where if yoy die here you die in real life." She pauses and looks out the window. "But I feel that if I kept a positive attitude, less people would freak out."
"W-well it's working," I say lowly and Rin returns it with a smile.
The waitress finally arrives back at our table and oulls out a little notebook. "What can I get you to eat?"
"2 pork sandwiches please!" Rin replies. I just simply, trying not to make contact with the female NPC. She bows and leaves our table.
"I can't wait to eat!" Exclaims the purple haired girl.
"Y-yea..."
