The last bell of the day rings. Schools out for every one, except me of course. I grab my bag from my locker and start to head to Mrs. Rhodes classroom. This isn't fair. I really shouldn't have to be here, especially today. I walk through the doors and realize that nobody is in the classroom except her. It was the girl that dropped her stuff next to my locker this morning. Apparently she didn't realize that I came in because she just kept sorting through the papers on the counter. I walked over to the desk and set my stuff down loud enough to make my presence known. Sure enough she whips around to locate where the noise came from. Her eyes soften when they land on me.
"Oh hi" she smiled.
"Uh hi..." I say as I place my bag on the floor next to me.
"What are you doing here?" she asks.
"Detention. What else?" I scoff at her and she looks at me offended.
"Why are you here? I don't suppose you have detention too?" I chuckle knowing that she probably doesn't.
"Oh no of course not," I thought so. She turns back around so her back is facing me and I can't help myself but look downwards. "I stay after school and help the teachers out with stuff they need done" she plainly states.
I'm surprised at her. Why would you want to do that? I could never do that. I would be bored to death. Literally. And not like I would. I hate helping people.
"Why in the world would you do that don't you have better things to do?"
"I do it because its nice and the right thing to do. And no, I don't have better things to do at the moment"
"I could give you some better things to do" I smirk and she huffs and turns away. I can't see her face but I can tell that she's blushing. She wasn't ugly don't get me wrong she had long brown hair, a nice smile and she was perfectly curvy and all together a great package, but I would never do anything with her. She seems boring and too innocent. Like she would agree to let me into her bed anyway.
"Do you know where Mrs. Rhodes is? I just want to get this over with."
"No, but she said she left papers on her desk for the student that comes in here, so I'm guessing they're probably for you."
"Oh ok"
"My names Emmy, just incase you wanted to know"
"Um ok" I didn't really want to know and I didn't care considering this was the last time I was going to see her ever again.
"And you are...?" she asks.
"Why do you care?"
"I just wanted to know your name it's not that much of a deal" she sounds disappointed.
I ignore herand walk to the teacher's desk and sure enough there was the assignment with my name on it. I grabbed and walked back to my desk. Sitting down I glanced over the paper. It really didn't look that hard.
With in an hour I finished the assignment and got back up and returned it to its original spot. I grab my bag from the floor and head out the doors.
"Bye" I hear Emmy say quietly as I exit the room.
I open the doors to the outside and breath in the fresh air. I'm finally free from this place and I don't ever have to come back.
I dig through my pockets to grab my phone to call Louis to pick me up since he was my only ride. And its just my luck that it turns out my phone is dead. Sighing, I turn around and re-enter the school knowing I only had one option. I make my way back to Mrs. Rhodes room. Emmy is still in the classroom stacking textbooks on the back shelf. Once again she doesn't realize I'm here until I let out a cough. She must have been surprised because she jumped a bit and turned towards me.
"Oh my gosh sorry you scared me"
"Uh sorry, I um was wondering if you had a car?"
"Yeah I do actually, why? Do you need a ride?"
"Yes. My phone died so I don't really have a choice"
"Ok let me just finish putting the rest of these books up here and then we can go"
"Ok" I responded and walked out to the hall way to wait for her. In about two minutes she came out and told me her car was in the back parking lot so we had to go out the other doors. Once we got out of the school she led me to her car which wasn't what I was expecting. It was a white BMW. Ok then. She unlocked the doors and accidentally set off her car alarm. She fumbled her keys in her hand and finally got it to stop. She looked a bit embarrassed.
"Uh, hop in" I snapped out of my thoughts when she gestured to the door. I didn't realize I was starring.
"Oh ok sorry"
"That's ok" she smiled and I got into the car. I haven't been in a car this nice since a while. The last time I was drunk and the girl almost got arrested on our way to her flat. That was a fun night.
I give her the directions to my flat as we pull out of the parking lot. My flat was probably 20 minutes away from the school. It was silent most of the car ride, not an awkward kind of silent though.
"That's it right there" I say to her and she pulls into the driveway. I start to open the door but stop and close it again.
"Niall. My names Niall."
"Well it was nice to meet you Niall"
"Um thanks for the ride"
"No problem, anytime" She smiled as I got out of the car.
"Bye Niall"
"Bye Emmy"
I walked to the front door and dug the keys out of my pocket and opened the door. Before I went in I turned around to see Emmy waving to me and smiling. I wave and smile back before pushing open the door to the flat.
"Who was that?" I look up to see Louis looking at me with his arms crossed and a smirk spread across his face.
"No one just a girl from school. I needed a ride and we were the only two left at school so..." he looks down and shakes his head.
"What?" I ask.
"She doesn't seem like a 'just a girl from school who gave you a ride' I haven't seen you smile a real smile in ages and you just did when you waved goodbye to her. If anything, I say you fancy her" he starts laughing and I stand up straight surprised and angered at his comment.
"Your fucking ridiculous, I don't fancy her. Why would I?" Actually I had a lot of reasons to. She has a perfect body. She looks adorable when she blushes and get embarrassed and she- no stop. I can't do this. I don't fancy her and I never will. Besides I'll probably never see her again in my life so I doesn't matter anyway. I never "fancy" people. If they're nice looking I'll get them in bed a few times and forget about them. They mean nothing to me basically. But Emmy made me feel... different.
