---------------------------------------------------CHAPTER 1-------------------------------
------1 WEEK AGO-------
The ocean’s waves rippled underneath the sun's rays, which were shining from over the horizon, tinting the deep blue of the sea with a shade of turquoise. It was a beautiful sight to behold, the violet shine and the yellow hue mixing with the desperation of aqua blue. The scene was breathtaking. Beneath my feet, the sand was soft, yet it was filled with corals and shells that blended together to form the tropical symbol that is Bali.
I wish I could stay here forever. I was savoring the moment, knowing I'd depart from this paradise all too soon. I was sitting on the edge of the sea, at the very brink of the sand where wet and dry sensations came together at the shore, and were holding my feet up in a frozen state, while supporting my head in its warm slumber. I gazed up at the sky where the clouds were playing with the birds, adding to the atmosphere of peace and calm.
I was mindlessly twirling the healthy locks of my medium, ash brown hair into a braid as I watched the water rise up past my ankles, tickling the soft, sensitive skin on the bottom of my knees. It was absolute bliss. Just lying down on the equator of water and land, thinking up thoughts of poetry and literature.
I got up and swept the pale golden sand that had clung onto my shoulders and backside. I thought it was time for the moment end as I walked up the beach to my hotel, carrying my personal sprinkle of carelessness into the largely chaotic scene.
My mom was sipping a healthy apple cucumber drink, and my sister was playing by the pool, sitting on the underwater stool and lounging around, flirting with the tan, muscular boys that surrounded her.
That is my life. A mother with vigorous and often deathly nutritional concoctions, a sister with a violent flirting disorder, and a father that was nowhere in sight, probably out photographing the scenery and considering whether or not the feng shui here is satisfactory. I walked up to my mom, who was wearing her flamboyant beach hat and designer swimsuit, and had decided to order the samosas.
"Mother, why aren’t you swimming? You should be out there enjoying the sun." I said as I laid myself down on the beach chair to suntan because I had begun to get the feeling that people were looking at me strangely because of my pale-as-paper skin complexion.
"Goodness, dear, this swimsuit isn’t meant to get wet! Plus, the sun gives you wrinkles, and I'm at this ripe age of 32. I simply couldn't bear to start having any this early in my life."
Yeah right. 32 my ass, if you’re so young then you would have gotten pregnant with me at 15 years old. I scoffed silently so as to avoid hearing my mom scold me yet again. Truth be told, under all my levels of shyness, there's a little spitfire, but I do not simply unleash it. People would get hurt, and I would become even more of an outcast than I already am.
I propped myself up on the chair, sat there, relaxed, and enjoyed the sun and vacation for as long as I could make it last. I was tired of going to school and putting up with all the things that teachers make us do for assignments and exams.
