Mabel stood still minute before speaking gain.
"What now Dipper. We can't just keep this from Grunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford, you know we can't."
Dipper stare at the ground silently.
"Um,excuse me," Bill started, causing the other two to look at him, "Maybe I could just hang around and gain their trust and we can tell them later?"
Mabel shrugged, "That might be best. We don't want them trying to kill the guy."
Dipper nodded, "Okay.Oh and Mabel, I can't eat this. Please spotting glitter in our food I'm sure Bill doesn't want to eat this either."
Bill shrugged but Mabel sighed, "Fine. Want me to take down the leftovers?"
"No, Bill'll eat it. He's pretty hungry apparently." They Both looked over to the dream demon who was chewing angrily on a sandwich triangle, his pointed teeth piercing through the beef jerky much easier that Dippers did.
Mabel raised an eyebrow, "He's a weird dude, huh?"
"Yeah..." Bill looked up with a curious expression,"What?" He asked with his mouth full.
"Bill swallow that, it's gross."
Mabel left shortly after, carrying the plates and bowls once Bill had finished, Dipper assumed that he didn't know what the concept of full was because he ate both of their meals.
Dipper watched Bill from across the room as he drew, they had gotten out some colouring books and drawing pads. Bill was drawing Dipper, it was actually quite good. He started to draw a second figure but stopped and looked up at Dipper. "Dipper? What do I look like?" He asked.
Dipper was taken aback little, but chuckled. "Here, follow me." He stood and led Bill to the bathroom and motioned to the mirror. "See for yourself." Bill entered and turned.
His eyes widened and he leaned forwards for a better look. He reached up and lifted his hair and eyepatch from his other eye to get a look, the eye itself was black without a pupil and there were what looked like cracks in his skin sprouting from it. He covered it again. "Dipper?"
"Yes?"
There was a small bout of silence. "I'm not human am I." It was less of a question and more of an observation.
"No."
"What am I?"
"You're a dream demon. That's what you told us at least. For a long time the only way you could come into our world was through our dreams, when we slept."
Bill was silent again for a while before letting out a barely audible "Oh." He lifted his hands up and buried his face in them.
"It's okay to be upset Bill." Dipper assured him.
Bill dropped his hands to his sides and walked past Dipper back into his room. He sat back down and finished his drawing before handing it off to Dipper. "Is this for me?" He asked, surprised.
Bill nodded. The drawing was simple but well done, himself and Dipper standing side by side. "Thank you. I'll put it up on my corkboard."
Bill smiled softly, clearly still upset. "Hey," Dipper began, "Why don't we go hang out down stairs with Mabel. It's almost dinner time. Do you want to help cook?"
Bill's eyes lifted to meet Dippers and he nodded slowly, of course dipper understood this meant that he didn't know what he was asking and was just agreeing to get his mind off the days events. They made their way down the stairs and to the kitchen, where Mabel and Stan sat. Ford was probably down in the basement as usual.
"We're gunna start dinner." Dipper said as he led Bill over to the stove. Mabel raised an eyebrow, "Bill can cook?" She asked, Dipper shrugged. Bill stared at the ground expressionless as Dipper got everything ready.
"You guys want help?" Stan asked. "Nah, we're good. I'll watch Bill, make sure he doesn't burn anything." Dipper chuckled. Bill gave no reaction, Stan got up and left with a grunt, claiming he was going to go watch Baby fights.
"Here," Dipper handed Bill a cutting board and knife, "You can cut the vegetables. I'll show you how so don't worry, it's just onion and mushroom."
"Okay." Bill agreed mindlessly, still not really sure what he was getting himself into.
Dipper showed Bill how to hold the knife and how to cut the mushrooms, after washing them of course, Bill did pretty well while Dipper filled a pot with water and potato, They were making steak and mashed potato. Dipper saw bill move on to the onion out of the corner of his eye. He did well with that as well... at first. About half way through, he dropped the knife and rubbed at his eyes, tears running down his face and sniffling. Dipper stopped what he was doing. "Bill! Are you okay?" He asked, keeping his distance.
"I-it's stings, its like pointy things in my eyes!" He exclaimed. Mabel attempted to hide her laughter from behind them.
"It's just the onion. It's fine. You're done now anyways. Just toss it all in the pan."
Bill did as he was told after splashing cold water in his eyes. Dinner was finished shortly after that and they all sat at the table together, Ford having come up from down below and Stan being summoned by the smell of food.
Dipper cut Bills steak into almost bite- sized pieces beforehand knowing he still didn't know how to use a steak knife. They began to eat, Bill using his hands. Stan raised an eyebrow at him, that he didn't seem to notice mind you.
When they were done Stan and Mabel cleaned up and Ford disappeared down the stairs once again. Bill had a handful of meat left that he was chewing on slowly, tearing pieces off with his teeth. Dipper chuckled at him and brought him back upstairs to finish. They stayed up until one a.m.ish before they ended up falling asleep on the floor together amongst the art supplies.
