I was just sitting on my couch, scrolling through Twitter. My thumb was interrupted by Ryan calling me. 'Eliry Magoober' the screen read. I answered.
"Hey." He said gloomily. Why was he so sad? His life was on the right track.... I think.
"Hi, Ryan." I said. "So....What are you doing." Ryan said. Ryan sounded like he was on the verge of tears. "Just.... Sittin'. On the couch-" I began. "Please come over again." Ryan interrupted. "Ry I can't right now. I don't have money and-" I said but again, interrupted by Ryan. "Iris I'll pay for your ticket. I'll drive there to pick you up. I'll fly back to South Carolina. Please I'll do anything. I just really want to see you again." Ryan begged. He began crying. He didn't want me to hear him. He hated me seeing signs of sadness in him.
"Ryan I don't want you to waste your money on me." I said. I wanted to cry as well, now. I hated letting Ryan down. "Iris I'm paying for your fucking ticket." Ryan said sternly, yet his voice was still shakey. I sighed. "You're sure about that?" I asked. Sometimes when we were teenagers Ryan said he would pay for something but he never did because he didn't have enough. I could feel Ryan smile through the phone. "Definitely." He assured.
"I guess. I'll start packing I tomorrow." "Thank you, Iris." Ryan said, happily, yet still crying. "You're welcome, Ryan." I said. "You realize it's 1 am, right?" I asked. "Shit. It's only 10pm here. Sorry for waking you." Ryan apologized. "You didn't wake anyone, really." I said. Ryan laughed. "M'kay. I'm gonna hang up. Bye seester." Ryan said. "Bye, brooter." I said. I laughed and hung up. I smiled at the thought of seeing my brother for the first time in nine months.
-Two Week Time Skip-
I boarded the plane. Just so happened to be seated next to some kid. 'Fucking great.' I thought. "Hello." She said. "Hey." I said. "You're Iris, right?" She asked. I threw my eyebrows up a little bit. "Um, yeah. Why?" I asked. She giggled. "Have you forgotten? You're Ryan's sister. Kids w/ Problems and Cyndago guy." She explained. "You watch him?" I asked. "Not just me, but my sister over there, too!" She said. She pointed to her sister. "I'm Aloura, by the way. My sisters name is Aislinn."
I got a quick selfie with them both before the plane started and we chatted a bit. The kid fell asleep on me. She was the sweetest. I was happy my brother had fans of all ages. Also from all parts of the country. I was so proud of him. That got me thinking about Cyndago. Then their videos. Then Daniel himself.
Before I knew it, I was in L.A. "Thank you so much for not taking me as some filthy peasant kid sitting next to you. May I ask, what are you doing in L.A?" Aloura asked. "Well, first off, I'm here to just visit for a few days. Second, why would I take my brothers fan as a filthy peasant? If you're a fan of my brother, I'm a fan of you." I said. She smiled to her cheeks when I said that. "One last picture?" She asked. "Of course." I said. I took the selfie, her sister photobombed us in the background. We laughed. We said our goodbyes and I headed towards the waiting area, where Ryan said he would be. I saw him from the distance. I texted him 'look ahead' he saw me and I ran up to him. I have him the biggest hug if ever given anyone. I felt as if I was gonna break my arms I swung them around him so hard. Mark ran up with us and gave me a hug as well, while some blonde guy just stared at us. But I didn't pay much attention to him. "I missed you two so much." I said to them. "We missed you, too." Ryan said. Mark looked at the blonde guy. Mark was laughing at how awkward this was for him. Ryan laughed as well. "Right. Iris, this is Matt. Original member of Kids with Problems, was a part of Cyndago, and Marks editor." Ryan said. Matt stuck his hand out to shake hands, but I insisted on giving him a hug, instead. "I'm Iris Magee." I said. "Matt Watson." He said. "I've heard." I laughed. We stared at each other for a second. He had fucking gorgeous eyes. Mine were just blue, almost grey. His were as blue as you can get.
"So, should we start driving?" Mark asked.
