"Where are we going exactly?" I asked Emilio, looking up from my shoes.
"To the movies!" He exclaimed, holding out his arm to gesture towards the movie theatre a few steps away.

It was called the 'Andler Movie Theater' and it has been in this town for nearly fourth years. The cherry red paint sticking to the building began to chip away, uncovering it's natural caramel colored wood. There was a sign in front that showed what was now playing and we studied it closely, even both inching forward to focus.

"What about The Lost Boys? Or Ferris Bueller's Day off?" I asked him and he nodded.
"The Lost Boys," he agreed, "definitely."

I squinted in the completely black theater. I held my arms out in front of me, trying to find my way through the darkness.

"Emilio, where is everyone?" I asked him, searching around me for a familiar face.
I felt his fingers brush against his palm, making my face heat up.

A light finally reflected onto us from the distance, allowing me to spot Emilio.

"Yeah, well, you see, this theatre has been closed for a while?" His front teeth bit his bottom lip.
"How long exactly?" my stomach turned.
"A few months," he finally grabbed my hand, making me jump up a little.
I followed behind Emilio, only a sliver of light shined onto our faces.
He guided me until we came to a few empty red velvet seats. I sat down next to him, sinking down into my chair.

"Are you afraid of an abandoned theater? Because we could go somewhere else, I don't mind," he whispered towards me as I watched the silhouette of his lips move up and down.

"No, it's alright," I shook my head,"but how did you get in here?"
"My dad's friends owns it, he let me in," he explained.

A beam of light flashed onto the screen in front of us, darting across the whole theater. I scanned the theater, now that I could finally see everything.
There was a glossy wooden balcony hovering above us, crowded with red velvet chairs. We sat in the farthest back seats of the bottom floor, away from the front seats which were decorated with popcorn kernels and empty boxes of gummy bears.

I leaned farther back into my chair as the first scene appeared onto the screen, a smile creeping onto my lips.

I've never been on a date before, this was my first. My best friend, Meghan, has been on so many she can't even count. Meghan isn't necessarily an awkward person, but one of the boys she was dating was.
His name was Ned and he had a mop of strawberry curls on his head and thick brown glasses. I've met him only once, but he refused to shake my hand because of his phobia of germs. Meghan says it's pretty serious, and he wouldn't leave his bedroom  for a month because of it.

Anyways, Ned is an awkward person. I don't even know why Meghan went out with him. She has the physical features of a supermodel, and she could date a football player or a jock. She could be so very popular, but she chose to hang out with me instead of girls with feathery bangs and an undying love for Rob Lowe. Meghan was way out of Ned's league.

Being my best friend, she would describe every single date afterwards. I cringed whenever she told me about them. One time, he mistaked a used napkin for a bouquet of flowers, and decided to give it to her.
After our little pep talks, I never wanted to go on a date, and my fear always stuck with me.

But, there was no awkward silence on our date. There was a comfortable silence that lingered between us, and a few times we'd sing along to "Cry Little Sister."

After the movie finished, he led me back out of the theater, guiding me to the light of day.

I exhaled deeply once we emerged from the darkness of the movie theater.

A sunset was smudged onto the sky above us. Pastel shades of pink, purple, and orange was painted onto the sky like a watercolor painting. The silhouette of tall trees with detailed branches completed the painting so well. We passed a bakery and I glanced into the window. A plate sat at the window with pastries sprinkled with powdered sugar on top.

"Wanna go in there?" Emilio stood next to me as we both looked into the window. Our reflections sat in the window and I studied them.
A small girl stood next to a taller boy. I smiled at him through the window.

"No, I should get heading home, it will be dark soon," I told Emilio, turning around to face him.

"Alright," he agreed,"want me to walk you home?"

"That's okay, I'll find my way."

His eyes trailed down my neck and to my collarbone. My body tensed up as he reached his fingers towards me necklace and pulled it out form underneath my shirt. A spark of energy fell from his fingers and into my body. He studied the dark gold Ethiopian necklace that sat around my neck.

"Sorry," his cheeks flushed,"it was stuck in your shirt."

"It's alright," I told him.

His fingers traced along the pattern of my charm.
"It's a beautiful necklace," he whispered,"Ethiopian?"
I nodded.

A strand of hair came loose and brushed against my neck. A small sparkle glimmered in Emilio's eye, showing the sunset in front of us sitting in his pupil.

A voice in my head told me, do it! You won't regret it! The sun, the grass, the buildings, and the sky all around us begged me to lean forward towards him. My breath choked back into my throat, I rocked back and forth on my heels.

He leaned a little closer, until I could feel his breath against mine.

Meghan has always described a kiss, since she's had about eight in her life, but I've never expected it to be like this. I never expected it to be so magical without fairy dust or witches brew. I never expected it to be so silent yet so loud.

And with that, at 7:32 pm, I kissed the man who made my heart swell for the rest of my life, and god, was it incredible.

Sorry it took so long, hope you like it!
