in life, we are faced with a matter of things. one of these things is self confidence, and or body positivity. having a good self confidence and self worth is very important in growing up, and in life.
your body is one the only things that you are going to have, and being proud and secure in your curves, stretch marks, scars, and however your body looks is important.
lets get things straight first; women in the media look a lot different than women in real life. people use photoshop to hide natural things that ALL WOMEN HAVE like stretchmarks, dark spots, stomach rolls (even when sitting down), and more. having those things are what all women have, even the supermodels you see on TV and in magazines.
things like stretchmarks are completely natural for women to have, although not every single girl may have them, most do. stretchmarks arent ugly or unattractive, and they are still very looked down upon but they shouldnt be. stretchmarks are natural whether or not you loose weight, gain weight, or even stay the same.
body positivity is often influenced on other peoples opinion. what you need to know, is that other people's opinions dont matter on your self worth, cause at the end of the day the only opinion that matters is your own. if you are happy with yourself, but other people dont choose to like how you look than that doesnt matter. dont let other people choose how you feel about yourself, or influence your own self worth.
loving yourself and accepting your self as you are, both physically and mentally, are very important. of course if you are over weight, or obese, it would be wise to loose weight for your health. but it does not mean that you are less beautiful than the people who are skinny or a healthy weight for their age and height. no matter what size, or shape you are you should learn to love yourself.
here are a few tips to do so:
1. when you look in the mirror, instead of pointing out the negatives, choose to look at the positives.
2. when you see the positives say them out loud, things like: my eyes are really pretty, i like how my nose looks, my hair is really good today. things like that.
3. stop doing what looks good, start doing what feels good. if you for say, wear a lot of makeup that you dont like but other people do, dont wear as much and slowly limit yourself into the look that you want to achieve! stop thinking about what other people want and what you want.
4. wear outfits that you feel confident in. whether or not thats a good hoodie and joggers, rather than a dress to school or work, let it be!
5. if you feel that you only need makeup to be pretty, then slowly limit yourself to only wear makeup to certain places or days. and remember; you dont need makeup to be beautiful!
6. if its simply your body that you dont like, try wearing clothes that compliment your body the way you want to! if you feel like you are fat, remember that it doesnt mean you arent beautiful, being fat is a good thing because ALL BODY TYPES ARE BEAUTIFUL! who said being fat was a bad thing?
7. collect a journal and write all the things you like about each morning, and when you feel sad or un confident look at yourself in the mirror and read them and admire those things.those were just a few tips, and an explanation on how body positivity is important in life.
although i wont be able to fit everything into one chapter, i will be sure to write another part soon and cover this topic more thoroughly!
remember that all body types are beautiful no matter what, and dont exclude yourself!
