Chapter 1 Parents

One year earlier

My parents had gone on a trip to go see my moms best friend Lindsay Morgan and her family. My brothers had just turned 18 a few months ago and I was 15. They were going for a little over a week and it was the middle of the school year so my parents didn't make us go with them.

The Morgan's live in Colorado and we live in Arizona. It takes about eight hours to drive from their house to our house.

It was the day they were supposed to be home. They ended up leaving later then they planned and were supposed to get home late at night. They called us saying not to stay up for them and we will see them in the morning. We all went to bed like usual thinking we had nothing to worry about.

It was about 2:30 in the morning when the we woke up because someone was knocking on the front door. Karson came into my room to see if I was awake.

"Kar who's here?"

"I don't know. Come on let's go see."

We thought it was just our parents but when Danny answered the door it was two police officers.

"Hello. I am officer Night and this is officer Golding. Are you Daniel, Karson and Natalie King?"

"Yes that is us" Kar answered.

"May we come in?" Officer Golding asked.

"Yes come in." This time it was Danny who answered.

"We are here to inform you that your parents passed away tonight because of a car accident." As soon as they said that I was balling into my brothers shoulders. "The other driver was drunk and ran right into the front of your parents car. They died instantly on impact. I am very sorry for your loss. Because of you boys being 18 you can take care of your sister."

Danny was the first to answer "Thank you for telling us."

"No problem. If you ever need anything just let us know." And with that they left. None of us fell back to sleep that night.

This is the first book I am writing by myself so there might be some mistakes. If you see one just tell me and I will fix it.
