( A one shot for @bea-the-bee who suggested i do a college au with soulmates. So here goes nothing.)

They stumbled in, drunk and out of their minds. It happened almost every night because they didn't know anything else. They would fight, about something stupid usually, and Bill or Dipper would leave the dorm and come back hours later drunk and angry. And then, well, they'd make up. Not in the traditional talk to each other sense, but in the 'angry make up sex' sort of way. And it would go on like that for days, weeks, months until one of them gave up. Until they couldn't take it anymore.

He couldn't take it anymore, because he loved Bill, they were soulmates. Meant to be together till the end of the line, meant to love each other. But it was like Bill stopped caring, or he stopped thinking. So Dipper ignored it, pretended everything was okay, acted like there was nothing to worry about. So he continued on with finishing his classes and getting his degree. College caught up to him after a while and that was when he started leaving with Bill to the town's nearest bar. And they drank, and fought, and fucked. Because they didn't know anything else. And every night, when they laid together in each other's arms, spent and tired Bill would say he loved him. And... He believed it.

Though tonight seemed different. As they stumbled towards the bed angrily tearing at each other's clothes, Bill biting at his neck and pushing him onto the bed, he felt different. It was a spark, a sudden stop, that made Bill look at him with something other than drunken anger, something closer to love an adoration than he had seen in months. "B-Bill?" He muttered, backing up until his back hit the head board. "Dipper.. I don't want to do this. Not anymore. I just want us to be happy again.." Bill pressed against him, speaking in a soft whisper, his breath against Dipper's skin making him shiver. "Can we even do that anymore?"
"We can try. I know i want to."
"So do i.. I want to try. I don't want to fight you anymore." Something in his voice broke and a tear slipped from his cheek. Bill swiped a thumb across his cheek as Dipper tilted his head into his touch. "I love you. I cant lose you." He whispered.
"You wont. I promise. After all we were made for each other." Bill smiled, lifting his wrist to kiss the name scarred onto his hand. The name of his soulmate Bill Cipher.

( light angst and a bit of fluff makes a happy boy)
