The following day, with her mother volunteering at the local library, Olivia opted to head into town, which was the Main Street of Bennings Creek to do some banking. She had asked if Leila wanted to join her but Leila had declined, deciding to stay with her grandfather instead.

Dressed in skinny jeans and a floral peasant top. Olivia strode down the sidewalk of Main Street heading toward the older style building otherwise known as the only bank in Bemmings Creek.

Along the way, she passed a lot of friendly people happy to say hello to her even though she wasn't sure if they knew her or not. It was a little town, but it wasn't that small that everyone knew everyone.

When she reached the bank, Olivia noticed the ATM had an out of order sign plastered to the front of it

Crap. It looked like she would have to make an actual appearance into the bank to withdraw funds from her account.

Olivia pushed open the glass door, her high heels making noise on the floor as she stepped into the bank, walking towards the counter where she was in line waiting for her turn as a Christmas song played on the radio.

Bennings Creek was as she remembered it being at Christmas time. Festive decorations were hung all around town, including the most prominent building of the city being the bank.

"Olivia Cane? Olivia is that you?" Olivia was startled by a female voice at the front counter. Her gaze turned toward the bank teller but didn't quite recognise her even though it was evident she remembered Olivia.

Olivia stepped forward towards the desk with a smile on her face.

"Hi..." She didn't want to be rude and say she didn't remember her, but it had been six years. Living in Melbourne and working as a financial advisor, Olivia met and came across a lot of people. Was she expected to remember everyone she once knew?

"You don't remember me do you?" The woman with short blonde hair probed Olivia with one further question.

"I'm sorry, but no I don't," Olivia said, doing her best to sound as apologetic as she could be. She didn't mean not to remember her. Her memory of some of those still residing in Bennings Creek had slipped her mind in the six years she had been living a life in the city.

"It's okay," she said with a smile. "I get it. You have another life in the city. You can't be called upon to remember everyone in our little town. Besides, we weren't close friends in high school. I won't hold it against you. And my name is Savannah. So what were you after today?"

So that's why she didn't leave a lasting impression on Olivia. Savannah was right. They hadn't been friends despite attending the same primary school and then high school throughout their educational years.

Olivia was given the impression that Savannah thought Olivia didn't belong with Jay because everyone could see that Olivia had bigger dreams beyond life in Bennings Creek and it wouldn't include a life with Jay.

Olivia tossed her medium long hair over one shoulder as she fumbled her hand into her expensive oversized handbag looking for her purse.

When she got what she wanted, Olivia pulled her bank card from her purse.

"I need to get out some money from my account. I noticed the ATM wasn't working," Olivia said, sliding the card in Savannah's direction.

"Yeah, that's been out of order for a few days now. It should be fixed by next week." Savannah's blue eyes fell upon the rock situated on Olivia's left hand, her eyes almost bulging out of their sockets. "That's some ring. You're engaged?"

Olivia nodded her head, suddenly conscious of her left hand as she moved it to her chest, covering her ring protectively. She had placed it on after leaving her parents house, assuming she wouldn't see anyone she knew. Olivia guessed she was wrong and should have just left it in her bag until she confessed to her parents and Leila that she was engaged. "I am."
