It was just another day, another boring week of living at home, having school on a computer, living the normal life you'd think an average 13 year old boy would have. Well, it was.
Until she changed everything.I woke up. "Talon, get up," a voice called. It was my mom, who was standing in the doorway. Her dark brown hair was messy, sticking out in places and over her shoulders. I opened my eyes, the blinds above my bed open, letting sunlight pour into my room. I sat up slowly, looking at the clock on the nightstand next to my bed. 8:03 am. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. I groaned, my deep voice raspy. "Come on, take Cy out and get started on your schoolwork." mom told me. Damn, I thought. She never told me to get up this early unless her and dad had some sort of fight.
Anyway, I wasn't your definition of 'normal.' Probably. I was thirteen, with a relatively low voice, and my height was 5'10". And Salem, Oregon wasn't that normal, either, with gangs and stuff all over. But, still, it wasn't that exciting.
I got up, off the bed, and looked at my dog Cyanide, my Australian and something else mix. "Come on, Cy, let's go out." I beckoned her. Mom went to her room, her music blasting. "Stressed Out" by Twenty Øne Pilots was playing, and I silently sang along. Cy followed me out of my room, down the small hallway and into the living room. I grabbed her leash, attaching it to her collar. I opened the door, holding the handle of the leash. I looked outside. There was a moving van next door. I walked down the stairs, Cy trailing behind. I looked back at the van. There was a small family moving in. There was a mother, a father, and their daughter. The girl, about 12, was wearing a black hoodie, with the words "Bring Me The Horizon" on the front in a dark grey colour. She had on faded and ripped black jeans, along with black combat boots. She had her phone out, staring down at it. She also had earbuds in her ears. The woman had long brown hair in two braids, one over each shoulder. She wore a black and blue hoodie, with skeletons on it. She also wore normal Blue Jeans. The man wore a dark blue hoodie with the words "A to Z Heating And Cooling" on the front and back. He also wore Blue Jeans. The two adults were talking, but Cy interrupted them by barking. The girl looked up, pulling one earbud out. She looked at her parents, turning her phone off and putting it in her hoodie pocket. She confidently walked to me and Cy, as if we were old friends. She took the hood off her head, revealing her face. She had thick, long brown hair, with just a hint of red, visible in the sunlight's glare. She had bangs that covered her left eye. She had dark brown eyes. She kneeled down, placing her hand gently on Cy's head, and Cy immediately stopped barking. After a moment, she stood up. "I'm Araya." she told me. She had a monotone voice, that was raspy as if she stayed up late screaming at a concert or something. "I'm Talon." I said, a little dizzy. I felt a strong pull towards her, as if we met already, as if we were together in some other life or timeline or something. And that's when it all started going wrong.
