Chapter 1
"There is nobody here. This is a waste of my time. I knew I shouldn't have come here."
"Are you talking to yourself?"
Spencer whirled around at the sudden voice, her heart pounding. "W-What? No, I was just, you know, thinking."
"Out loud?" The other girl quirked her perfectly shaped eyebrow at her.
"Uh. Yeah."
"Wait, Spencer? You're Spencer Collins, right?"
She dipped her head in a nod. "And you're Olivia King."
"You remember me?"
She scoffed. "I'm surprised you remember me."
"Of course I do." Olivia grinned, showing off her white pearls. "You were always with that guy, right? What was his name again?"
Spencer flinched at the mention of him. She waved Olivia off. "Yeah. That was me."
"I'm so glad I found you. There's literally no one else from our year here. I was about to-"
"Hello Minnesota!" A flash of blonde hair graced the hallway with its presence.
"Leave," Olivia finished her sentence. "Oh God. Please tell me this is not happening."
"So good to be- Oh." The blonde stopped in front of the two girls. "Well, well, well. If it isn't the Wicked Witch of the West and," she paused, her bright eyes trailed over Spencer's body. "Did you go to school here?"
Spencer gave the blonde her best scowl. "No, I just really like going to random high school reunions and pretend like people know me."
"Someone's angsty." She laughed, making Olivia and Spencer shudder.
"What are you doing here, Summer?" Olivia asked, raising an eyebrow. "Last time I checked, you weren't exactly in this school anymore."
"Well, honey, we all know its not a party until I'm here." Summer smirked, tossing her golden hair over her shoulder.
A few of the younger guys stopped to admire her, gazing at her body. Summer Reid always had that effect on people. She winked at them, making their knees buckle slightly.
Olivia rolled her eyes, putting her fingers between her lips and letting out a low whistle. "She's six years older than you. Get back to class," she snapped, making the boys scramble out of the hallway.
"Do you have to ruin ever-" Summer started, but a male voice cut her short.
"Still as bossy as ever, huh, Olive?" The teasing tone in his voice and the nickname 'Olive' gave away his identity but the three girls spun around in shock anyway.
"Ric." Olivia's tough manner faltered a bit at the sight of him. She straightened up, clearing her throat. "You're here."
"Of course I am." He grinned, dimples showing. "Its good to see you," he said softly, his voice barely hearable.
Olivia could only manage a nod, her lips fighting to curve into a smile.
Summer took this as her cue and pushed right past Olivia. She walked up to him, trailing her forefinger down his arm. "Alaric Shaw," she purred. "Haven't seen you in a while."
"Uh, you too, Summer," he said, slowly inching his body away from Summer.
"I think you were the only guy in our year I didn't, 'you know'. We should change that." She bit her lip, giving him a wink.
