Driane POV
".......... Once again, thank you" As I said my last words, I received a round of applause. I looked at Kiane and gave her a watery smile which she returned with a proud smile. I just finished delivering my salututorian speech. Kiane is the valedictorian in our batch. We've reached this far. But I know this is just the beginning...
*TIMESKIP 1 HOUR*
Nandito kami ngayon ni Kiane nakaupo sa taas ng pinakamalaking puno sa school. Nakatingin lang kami sa mga classmates namin na kasama ang mga magulang nila. The smile on their faces. Nakakainggit. Napatingin ako kay Kiane. Her eyes showed sadness, anger, envy, and.... Longing.. I leaned closer to her and hugged her. I could tell I startled her, nevertheless, she didn't push me away. Slowly, she hugged me back. We stayed like that for what it seemed like hours. Silence enveloping us. It wasn't an awkward one. In fact, it was more of a comfortable silence.
You see, our parents never had time for us. They were always busy with the family company. They didn't care. To them, we were just pieces of unwanted trash. The truth was we and our parents made a deal. We'd do all the dirty works of the company in exchange of our freedom to do anything and we also receive monthly allowances. And when I mean dirty works, I mean hacking into the company's rival's system, forging legal documents, and all other stuff. Why do they do it? We don't know nor care. As long as we have our freedom. And that's all that matters to us.
"Any plans tomorrow?" I asked breaking the silence. I heard her sigh. I looked at her.
"How does cake sound?" She half-smirked. Then she turned to me. And me being me, I returned the favor.
"With cookies n' cream ice cream?" I asked, our expression not changing.
"Definitely." We both said our voices in sync. Then we bursted out laughing.
After a few moments of laughter, we decided to go home.
Kiane POV
Habang pauwi kami ng bahay. Siniko ko si Driane na mukhang lumilipad ang isip.
"Hm?" Sabi niya habang nakatingin sa daan.
"Lutang ka na naman." Sabi ko.
"Ah. Sorry." Napa-iling na lang ako. Inaalala niya na naman sila. Tsk. Napabuntong-hininga ulit ako.
"Ok lang. So, ano gusto mo ulam naten?" I said changing the subject. She quickly turned her head to me. Her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. I mentally facepalmed. Bipolar.
"BEEF STEAK~!!!" Sigaw niya sabay damba saken. Muntikan na kaming mahulog. Pero bago yun, namaintain ko yung balance ko.
"Anak ng tipakshort ka!!" Sigaw ko. Hawak-hawak ko ang dibdib ko. I shot a playful glare at her. Aba, nag-peace sign pa ang babaita. I rolled my eyes.
*TIMESKIP PAPUNTA SA BAHAY*
"Mmmmm..." Sabi niya. Nakapikit ang mata niya. Kitang kita nasasarapan sa pagkain. I smiled at no one in particular, staring at the food I made. She loves my cooking. Especially my infamous beef steak. Haha. Kase, di marunong magluto yung isa diyan.
Sinimulan ko ng kumain at pinagisipan kung ano-ano ang mga kelangan namin pagpunta sa Japan. Then, suddenly my phone ringed a specific ringtone reserved for them. I huffed at the 4th ring before I picked it up.
"What?" I asked calmly with no evident emotions.
"Check your laptop." A cold masculine voice commanded. I rolled my eyes and proceeded to get my laptop. As soon as I opened it, a file popped.
"A map and a blueprint." I said observantly.
"Exactly. We want you to sneak up that building and gather all the classified files." He explained.
"Deadline?"
"Midnight." I looked at the time. 8:50 PM.
"Consider it done." Then I ended the call. I looked at Driane to see that she was finished eating.
I quickly printed the maps and blueprint. I grabbed the papers and scanned it.
"Another one?" Driane asked. I could tell she became serious. I stayed silent and nodded. I gave it to her and went upstairs. I opened the door to my room and hurriedly changed clothes.
I looked into the mirror one last time. I was wearing what I usually wear when we do these kind of things. A black corset shirt, leather jacket, shorts, and a mask that covers the lower part of my face including my nose. On my way to the door, I picked up my black knee-high lace-up high-heeled boots. As I made my way to the living room, I saw Driane with the same get-up.
The moment I grabbed the maps, we went straight to our hidden garage and up to our big bikes. We each wore our helmets and started our engines. The garage door opened and in a split second, we left the place.
