"Emmery. Emmery! EMMERY!" The voices would shout over and over. "STOP!" I screamed, rolling over on my left side. My blue sheets scattering across the floor. "STOP IT PLEASE!" I screeched clenching my head. Fast paced steps came close. "EMMERY shhhh it's okay!" My mother insisted, trying to hold me close. I fought out of her hold. "YOU DON'T GET IT!" Tears rushed down my face. "THEY'LL NEVER LEAVE!" I shouted. Tears stung my eyes, hot and steamy. "You'll never understand." I cried. My black short hair was a mess, my mothers longer blonde hair overlapped mine. The smell of her was comforting but almost sickening, her natural scent almost like a perfume. "Stop. You know I'm not your child. I'll never be your child and I'll never live up to your expectations." I spoke softly. My mothers body shifted. "Stop thinking that way...just because your adopted doesn't mean I'm not your mother..and that you're not my daughter. I love you Emmery."
