Stalked Like Prey

The Fourth Chapter

We were sitting at Panda Express when I noticed him walk by. After the scary text I didn't tell Katherine and Kayla about J.M. I would do anything to protect my mom so; I just said I was coming down with the flu. Poor excuse, I know but I couldn't think of anything else. It took them a while to believe me but when they did it was off to the Miami Mall. 



Caleb was here. He was walking with 3 other guys. They all looked dangerous and scary but that's Caleb for you. He had that dangerous aura. 

He wasn't always like this and, it was shocking that he was back in town. What was even more shocking was he and his friends were walking right toward us! 



"Hotties. 12 o'clock don't look now but I think they are coming this way." Katherine said without even looking up from her phone.



"How did you know? You have been staring at your phone for the last 10 minutes." I said to Katherine.



"First, its called peripheral vision. Second, it's hard not to notice when you have been staring at all of them." Katherine said.



"I was not staring at them." I denied 



"Yes, you were." Kayla said joining the conversation. I just scoffed and returned to eating my food. I wasn't staring I was looking for a short amount of time. There is a difference. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard a voice in front of me. 



"Look at what we have here boys, 3 hot chicks eating all alone. Mind if we join ladies?" Caleb said while raising an eyebrow. He looked at each of us while smirking. He didn't recognize me I just played it off as if it didn't affect me. I was going to tell him we were just leaving until Kayla spoke up.



"Sure! What's your name?" she asked with a flirtatious smile. Once Kayla starts flirting we will never get a chance to leave.



"I'm Kendall. These are my friends Kendrick and Seth. What about you sweetheart, got a name?" Caleb told Kayla. But I was- no I am sure that's Caleb. Caleb was hard to mistaken with anyone else. He even had the same scar on his right hand. Why would Caleb tell Kayla a fake name? I zoned out of their flirting and started to think to my self until I heard Kayla laugh.



"Ha! Kendall you are hilarious!" Kayla said while reaching for his hand. She stopped when she noticed the scar. 'What happened?" she asked. The scar wasn't big but it was hard to miss on his tan skin. 



"Just a slip of the hand. Nothing big babe." Caleb/Kendall said. I noticed Kayla started blushing when he said 'babe'. Poor Kayla she had no idea what she was getting herself into. We sat there for at least an hour. I would occasionally join the conversation but other than that I stayed quiet. Kayla and Caleb were flirting non-stop and Katherine and I think his name was Seth was talking about music. The last guy Kendrick was talking to someone on the phone, maybe his girlfriend. We all finished our food a while ago and went to get coffee at caribou.



"Okay, alright babe I will tell them" Kendrick said hanging up on the phone. "Lets go guys, Lauren is waiting for us." He said while gathering his things.



"Will I see you around, pumpkin?" Caleb said to Kayla pulling her up with him. 



"Yes. You just have to be where I am at the right time and at the right place." Kayla said. She winked and walked back towards me.



"Lets go! Seth!" Yelled Kendrick. Wow, he really must want to go this Lauren person. 



Katherine, Kayla and I started walking to the parking lot and teasing Katherine about Seth. She usually doesn't flirt with guys so it was a surprise to Kayla and I. 



"Guys, just let it go. We were only talking about music. We seem to have a lot in common too." She said the last part in a low mumble but we heard her.



"Oh, you like him!" Kayla said to her sister "it's about time you started liking a guy. I almost thought you were-" Kayla was cut off by Katherine pinching her arm. 



"Don't say it." Katherine threatened.



"What? Sheesh I was just going to say I thought you were actually happy being single. You didn't have to hit me." Kayla said while rubbing her arm. I just laughed at my friends and kept walking. 



Out of the corner of my eye I saw Caleb and his friends waking back to their car. That's when I got an idea. 



"Hey guys, I think I forgot something in the mall I will meet you in the car." I told them. I heard a distant 'sure' and 'okay' but I already started walking towards the direction I saw Caleb. Once I found him I hid behind a car near theirs and looked at their car again and he was just about to go in.



"HEY! Caleb!" I yelled. Then quickly hid behind the car again. And sure enough he turned around and looked for the person calling his name. He even called out a 'who's there'. So know I'm sure he was Caleb.



Why did he tell Kayla his name was Kendall?
