Louis' POV
I looked down upon the very old gravestone and gave a smile, the largest one I could muster up. I slowly crippled down to my knees and stared at the words carved on the stone. Evelyn. Beautiful name for what was and always will be a beautiful girl. I set down a bouquet of white roses. I took a flower out of the dozen one at a time and set them in different places of her small plot. When I was satisfied by the set up of each rose, I stood slowly. I heard each crack in my old knees and I held my back.
" 50 years we said goodbye and yet, it feels like we had said it yesterday." I heard a strangled laugh from Carly's mouth. "Fuck, we're pretty old."
"No we aren't!" Eleanor protested, placing a fragile hand on her hip. Once Eve paid her last visits to everyone and we had let it sink in that she finally left that time, Carly had broken. Although the boys and I had actually realized we let go a long time ago, Carly just hadn't. She tried to run from everyone, ironically. The first person to find her, Eleanor.
From that time on, they had gotten closer. Carly made it clear to her and everyone that no one could replace Eve though and Eleanor always smiled and responded , " No one could take her place, even if they tried darling." You could see in Carly's eyes though she was more than thankful to call Eleanor her close friend.
" We are so old! Look at these wrinkles!" Carly laughed like a small child, pulling at the small wrinkles on her hands. "It's okay though, being old has its props."
"You're idiotic." El smiled at her and grabbed my hand. "You alright?" I nodded back. I was simply enjoying the little burst going on and the memories it brought back.
With one swift motion, Harry tucked a lilac under one of my roses. Even with the old age, he still moved quite well. "Plain white isn't cute, Louis." In which I replied, "Shut up."
"You guys ever wonder if she still watches us?" Liam said, looking up at the sky. Eleanor was let in on the whole ghost thing, she didn't question much of it and just accepted it. "Of course." The quick reply from Niall came. I don't think we were all just naturally lucky." A laugh fell from his lips as he ended it off. The sun gleamed in his eyes and even with age, they were the best and lightest blue that still made girls fall, although he settled down. We all had and we had kids, along with grandchildren.
When I had my first girl with Eleanor, it shocked me that she asked me if we could name her Evelyn. I remember staring at her and her stuttering out, "We don't have too! I just thought it was a nice though a-and she deserves it and this baby means so much to us tha-" I cut her off with a kiss and when we stopped, that little baby girl's birth certificate was signed Evelyn Tomlinson.
Carly, of course, was over the moon excited that we named our child that. We all stared at her like she had a second head. Her only response was, "I was hoping someone would name their kid after her, I'm sticking to what me and her had planned for kids." Harry had attempted to butt in saying, "If you two idiots picked weird names I swear-" He got hit with a random clipboard and never finished that sentence.
That's exactly what happened though. The best part? They had twin girls. Poor Harry dealt with three Carly's. One was named after what Eve wanted to name her child, Arella Marie Styles. The other was what Carly named her child, Alexis Lynn Styles. Harry may have put on a front that he was grumpy he didn't have a choice but, you could tell he was more than proud to lead on whatever Carly and Eve had always planned.
All the other guys had settled down with a happy family all in all. We had never lost contact once, even though we had all let go of the spot light soon after our late twenties arrived and decided we were kind of tired of never seeing our child's first. We got to grow up with the best fans ever and surprisingly, some of our kids joined together and made their own band. The kids that didn't go in the band had done charities and when we told them they didn't have to do any of that if it was for us. They told us, " It isn't just for you. You raised a generation into something amazing and now? We're gonna raise those kids."
