a few hours laterAlthough Scarlett was conscious and aware of her surroundings, she ignored them for a few hours. She could hear whispers behind her shut eyes and could smell sweets and flowers near her. Scarlett eventually opened her eyes, and felt the pain of her head.
She groaned, putting her hand on her forehead. "Ow."
"Scarlett?" A voice lit up, and Scarlett looked up to see Lilly. Scarlett smiled, looking around. She was in the hospital wing, and the only person there besides Lilly, who was sitting in a chair at the end of her bed. "How's your head?"
"Um, could be better." She answered. "What are you doing here?"
"I brought you here. That bludger hit you really hard." She had a small smile on her face. "You were all by yourself almost passed out outside the locker rooms."
"You picked me up?" Scarlett asked.
"No, James was near and helped me." Lilly spoke softly. She looked over to the few flowers and candy sitting on the bedside table. "Those are from James, Alicia, and Gus. They left awhile ago. I brought the flowers."
Scarlett picked up the purple flowers, smelling them. "These are beautiful, thank you so much. Where did you get them?"
"You're welcome, but it's no big deal. There is lavender everywhere in the forest." She beamed.
"The forest? You mean the forbidden forest?" Scarlett asked.
Lilly laughed. "Oh please. It's not really forbidden. I go there all the time. My sister is head girl."
"Lilly!" Scarlett exclaimed, sending them both into a fit of laughter. "But seriously, thank you so much. It means so much. And now I have an excuse to miss the dance."
"No," Lilly smiled, her dimples popping. "You only had a concussion, and you can leave in 24 hours, because magic is amazing. So actually, you can! And in your gratitude, you have to go."
Scarlett pursed her lips. "Hm. On one condition."
"I'm listening."

January 30, 2022
It was the last day with no school before the dance, and the pressure to find an outfit was colossal. All of Scarlett's roommates had gotten dates (Lucas being one of them) as well as Gus, who was asked by a pretty Gryffindor girl, who he happily said yes too. Clary was going with Albus, and Olivia was yet to find a date (Scarlett assumed Albus would pair her with one of his friends). Scarlett hadn't been asked, but nor did she have eyes for anyone. Especially not Scorpius. On the bright side, Scarlett had gotten very close to Lilly in the past four days. Lilly had a room to herself, because her roommate had transferred to Durmstrang. She also had a wardrobe full of dresses (she wore them a lot) and Scarlett reluctantly chose one for the dance (it was very small on her and she had to take off the seemingly endless frou-frou for it to be wearable).
Gus and Lilly seemed to get along, but Scarlett knew he thought she was a little odd, (which wasn't entirely untrue). She had a pet fox, an endless amount of books in other languages (Lilly didn't speak any of them), a lot of clothes, an obsession with muggle studies, and hated curse words. So for the four days since Scarlett had been diagnosed with a concussion, she spent a lot of time with Lilly. They were both pleased to say they had a friend.
Dark Arts had become more enjoyable, and Lilly was the best distraction from Scorpius. At quidditch practice, Scorpius and Scarlett never muttered a word to each other, so she was definitely not looking forward to prefect duties either.
But Scarlett endured it anyway. In her hours of silence in the same corridor with Scorpius, she had realized he had left her almost unconscious a few days ago. All because of a stupid quidditch scrimmage. It was only 10:47, but Scarlett retired from her duties that night anyway. She walked to the bathrooms, leaving Scorpius confused and annoyed.
Scarlett made her way to the bathrooms, but jumped when she saw a shimmer fly by. She instinctively pulled out her wand and whispered harshly, "Homenum Revelio!"
Scarlett glanced around, and noticed a blue shimmering outline of an all too familiar person. She muffled her laugh and walked past the marker with a straight face, only to pull off the invisibility cloak. "Albus!"
Albus gasped, then his expression turned to a sheepish look. "How'd you find me?"
"Human presence spell. Albus, kids use invisibility cloaks all the time. We're not stupid." She laughed.
"Sure. Your spell found one of the deathly hallows." He smirked.
"Haha. You're funny—" Scarlett's laughter was cut off by Scorpius. He stormed around the corner, into the corridor Albus and Scarlett were standing in.
"What are you doing?" Scorpius asked bitterly. Scarlett opened her mouth and turned to Albus, who was no where to been seen.
"What the hell Albus?" Scarlett said down the corridor, but he was long gone.
"What are you doing?" Scorpius repeated.
Scarlett turned back to face him, her face hardening. She was done with his shit. "None of your business. And before you say it is, know it's not. You need to stop treating me like a child. I am of equal age. I am in an equal amount of classes. I am in your house. I am your corresponding prefect. I am your teammate. And don't you dare act like Christmas break never happened. I am your equal, so please just shut up Scorpius! You can go and tell James for all I care. I am just like you, so just leave me alone!"
Scarlett turned on her heel strode away, for she would never let Scorpius see her cry again.
