The creature's shadow turned to me and smiled, a dark smile, then disappeared. I ran in my mum's bedroom. The room was a disaster, blood was everywhere, dripping from the chandelier, scratches were on the walls but I still couldn't seem to find her. I carefully took my phone out of my pocket. My hands were shaking so much that I couldn't press only one number at a time as I called the police. I waited for them outside, I couldn't stay in the room where my mum died, at least not alone. Ten minutes after the police arrived, I told them everything that happened while I was walking them to my mum's bedroom or as they called it "the crime scene". As we arrived the whole room was different. The room was neat and there was no trace of blood or scratches. The police officer started laughing

"Is this a joke?" she asked,

"No I swear everything I told you that happened was true."

I couldn't be more confused. The police started looking for foot prints or finger prints.

"Nothing here."

Was this all a dream? It couldn't have been! I closed my eyes and opened them, I did it twice. I pinched myself apparently that's supposed to work, they do it in every movie. Nothing happened, now I was more than sure that this wasn't a dream, it was reality. I then saw a handprint covered with blood, it was the weirdest handprint I had ever seen, the fingers were really long and the end was so pointy that it could rip someone's throat off.

"Look!" I said pointing to it.

"What?" answered the police officer.

"Don't you see that?"

"See what?"

I showed it to another police officer and he couldn't see it either. Was I the only one that could see it?

"Do you want us to call your mum for you so you can make sure that everything is ok?"

she asked, I nodded. The police officer took her phone out and dialled my mum's number, about ten seconds later someone answered.

"Hello?"

"Yes hello, is this Allison Lahey, mother of Malia Lahey?" said the Police Officer.

"Yes it is, why?"

I couldn't be more confused .

"We have your daughter here and she was really worried about you."

"Please tell her I have to work late tonight and so does her father and that there is nothing to worry about."

The police officer hung up and looked at me.

"You heard her, there is nothing to worry about."

Yes I did hear her but that couldn't have been mum, dad left us when I was small so there is no way that he is working late tonight.
