For the first time since my mother's death my dream wasn't a nightmare, instead I dreamt about her, my mother. The dream started being all white, then she appeared.

"Malia", she said,

"Tomorrow you are going to confront the demon", she continued.

"You are ready, you have always been. I forgot to tell you something, you were born different, you have a power that no one else has",

I couldn't understand.

"That power is going to defeat the demon, but you have to show up with no gun, sword or anything to defend yourself. If you, you will die and so will your father and I. So please show up unarmed."

I suddenly woke up. Looked at the clock that was on my desk, it was 11pm, the same time as before I went to bed. Did I sleep a whole day or did I just didn't sleep? I couldn't be more confused but with no more questions I went outside, unarmed.

"Theo!" I yelled.

"Theo Hale, that was your name!"

Suddenly a dark shadow appeared, I couldn't see its face, not yet.

"Don't call me that", it said walking towards me, holding a knife.

I could finally see it's face, it was my mum's.

"Mum!"

I yelled running towards her. When I arrived right in front of it I stopped, if that was mum, why did it say "Don't call me that"? I took a step back.

"What's wrong sweetheart?" she said walking towards me.

I kept walking backwards.

"Why don't you come give mummy a hug?"

I didn't answer.

"Come on sweetheart" she started walking faster and her voice turned lower.

"Give mummy a hug!!!" she yelled.

Her nails and her teeth grew longer and pointier and her eyes turned black.

"You are not my mother!"

As soon as I said that the demon grabbed the knife and threw it at my heart.

There I was laying down on the grass, It feels like there's a whole weight on my heart, and I can't breathe.I could feel my pulse pounding through my body, and escaping in torrents through the open wound. At this moment i felt no pain, i felt no sorrow. I knew I only had a few seconds left. As I closed my eyes I saw the demon walking away. I then understood that my parents were already dead, it was there the whole time after my mother's death, as the police officer, as mum on the phone, as my mum last night in my dream and as mum tonight, to make sure that everything was going the way it wanted to go. It had won and I had lost.
