Gomorrah was a bustling military city, and the adjoining Babel spaceport, the first in the world to be constructed by humans, was more than halfway complete. As the group disembarked from the saucer, Cava noticed the fighter craft anchored around them. In profile, she noticed how closely they resembled the strange crucifix's that she had seen drawings of from the Moab conflicts. Adom's eyes, meanwhile, were drawn to a research lab in a room along the corridor down which they were proceeding. An Annunaki was demonstrating how to use a handheld levitation device to a human, and Adom let out an angry chuckle as he realized how much easier those would have made constructing the pyramids. He understood why they weren't given out to humans on a regular basis, however, so he couldn't be too mad.
At the end of the corridor, a massive war room was bustling with workers toiling away at different tasks. Annu ignored most of them and proceeded towards the front of the room, where a human man dressed in modest robes gave orders to subordinates. As they drew closer to the man, Annu called out to him. "Lot!" he bellowed, extending his lower arm to shake Lot's hand. "Adom, Cava, this is Lot. He and his wife Sarah run our intelligence division on the ground.
"It's a pleasure to meet you," Lot said as he greeted the two new recruits. "It's always good to meet people you can trust."
Adom was curious. "What makes you think you can trust us?"
Lot smiled and glanced at Annu in amusement. "If you were not trustworthy, you would not be here."
Adom shrugged as he acknowledged the logic of that statement. "Fair enough," he reasoned.
At this point, Annu refocused the conversation. "Lot, you look troubled. What's wrong?"
"Enki... has done something terrible!" Lot gasped. "He has, in one fell swoop, nearly destroyed all of our resistance! No one stood a chance."
"How has he done this so quickly and efficiently?" Annu demanded. "Was no one able to delay him?"
"My lord.. I..." Lot hesitated, mainly because the words were too difficult for him to say without breaking down in terror. "Witnesses say that he brought about a great flood, opening the continents themselves, that our resistance might be destroyed and the "inferior" genetic coding of the original species might be completely wiped out. He means to create a clean slate with which to work!"
"Ok, listen to me Lot." Annu instructed, himself visibly shaken by this news. "The fate of the resistance now lies with you and these two brave soldiers I've brought with me. If I don't survive, it's up to you to follow the plan. Get your wife, take my friends here, and leave the city. If Enki finds me he won't hesitate to destroy this place. Don't look back. Go, now."
"Shouldn't we warn the others first?" Lot protested.
"Leave that to me. You don't have time. Just evacuate."
"As you command, my lord." Lot bowed, then took Cava and Adom by the hand and led them to his quarters, where his wife, Sara, was preparing the evening meal.
"Oh good, you're home!" she exclaimed as he entered. "And you brought guests?"
"Sarah, get your things, we have to go." Lot said in a firm voice.
"Ok... when?" she asked
"Now. Grab only what you can carry. These are the direct orders of Annu. The city is in danger! He fears for our lives."
Sarah's eyes widened and her jaw dropped. "Oh! We have to rescue Kalumtum!"
"No! There isn't time!" Lot insisted. "Annu assured me he would take care of everyone else."
