Chapter 1 - The Beginning

Hi guys so before I start, this is my first story so please don't judge too harshly but I would love any comments, side notes, advice, criticism, or anything on how to make my stories better! I really hope you guys like it :)

Emerald POV

Its today! Its a brand new day for a brand new start!

Summer is done and here comes fall, which can only mean one thing.

SCHOOL

I got out of bed and took the outfit I've chosen for my first day, out of my walk-in closet and put it on top of my bed. I would have chosen just a normal closet but my parents insisted that I have a big walk-in one because of "the waisted bedroom space". Their words not mine.

After I finished brushing my teeth and washing my face, I get changed and brush my hair then rush down to the dining area with the huge table.

I really dont get why we needed a huge table when it was just me, my Dad, my Mom, and my brother Anthony who eats but like I said, my parents insisted.

Our family owns numerous amounts of chain restaurants and hotels around the world so you could say our family is powerful compared to your usual families but really, its not any different.

My Dad is as funny as any other dad there is in other families and my Mom, well she's pretty chill but can still be strict. And there's my older brother Anthony. He's very protective like other brothers.

Both my parents look at me and laugh when I reach the table and sat down. I stared at them and asked "what? What's so funny?"

"Oh honey, you just look like you drank tons of coffee last night and couldn't sleep!" My mom said while my dad kept laughing. I scrunched my nose in response

My mom just chuckled at my face and handed me my breakfast. Eggs, sausages and toast. I love her cooking so I couldn't resist but smile angelically "Well.. I might not have slept cause I was too excited to go to school" I answered while I starting to dig into my food

"Excited to study? That doesn't sound like you Em. Usually you'd be complaining about school even though you get good grades!" My brother teased while faking a shocked face

I threw a towel at him and laughed "Yeah well this is different! Its high school! Prom and dances and everything! Plus a fresh start! No one will know about our family being rich"

I hated people knowing my family was rich. Everyone treated me differently like I was some god or almighty leader or something. Everyone was at my beck and call! Except for one person.

Then the doorbell rang

"Oh that must be Jonathan! Are you going to school together?" Mom asked me

"Yep, we're walking though. Our high school building is only a few blocks away" I answered while eating the last of my breakfast in a hurry

My Dad chuckled "calm down there cheetah. You'll choke if you keep eating that fast! Are you sure you dont want to take the care? Larry can drive you"

"Dad I'm sure. I want to keep us being rich a secret remember?" I gave him a serious look

He nodded "Alright it's your choice. Just call if you need anything alright?"

"Yes Dad! Now I gotta go before Jonathan leaves me again" I said running to grab my backpack and putting on my shoes.

I kissed Mom and Dad goodbye and gave my big bro a huge pinch on the nose and ran out the house

"FINALLY! Why are you always so slow in the morning?" Jonathan said while shaking his head at me

"Well sorry, the food tasted too good to leave untouched" I giggled

He chuckled "You and your food"

And we both started to walk our new path to school
