Alfred had already waited two hours. How long does it take for a lamb to stray to the fence? Do they know I'm here? He thought to himself. As an American wolf, he really didn't have much patience, and his was wearing thin. However, he couldn't just run out and try to grab a lamb. The farmers would shoot him before he did, and his muscles were already sore. So even if the farmer wasn't aware, he'd be slow, and the sheep would panic until the farmer came and shot him. The only thing he could do was wait.
And wait he did. After another hour, he laid down and relaxed his muscles, watching the little sheep prance and play. It was time consuming, watching them play.
But that's not what caught his attention. It wasn't the lambs or any of the sheep, and definitely not the farmer that came out twenty minutes before. No, it was the boy in the field, playing with the lambs. He seemed perfectly comfortable around them, and the lambs were more than happy to play with him. Alfred's ears were perked up, his posture upright. How are the sheep tolerating this human? He thought. The better question was, where did he come from? He hadn't seen the boy walk into the field. He just seemed to appear out of nowhere.
No matter. Let's see how the boy and lambs react when one's my dinner~
