Another dream, writing this had me so stressed cause my laptop mousepad keeps freezing and then my laptop died so I had to write it on my phone AND THEN I finish writing and almost published it like an hour ago, but went to look for it and it as like "Error while saving." I cried for like 10 minutes straight and almost flung my phone but my broke ass can't be doing that shit, ya'know? So I sucked it up, along with like 30,000 calories worth of junk food and wrote it over. AND I'M DONE. Applaud me, I am the best. Furthermore, it took me forever to make this damn dream make sense and correct all the errors on it so I left all the original names of my friends on there because it's too much work to think of fake ones to replace them with AND replace the names in the story. Also, this dream has me listening to Fire Meet Gasoline and House on Fire by Sia on repeat, heh~
Ok so, this isn't the background, just me talking about the dream. My original dream was switching POVs between me (I guess I'm Katherine?) and the POV of the person narrating this story. But my POV's were confuzzling and weird and kinda irrelevant so I just put it all to this POV. I don't really even know who this person is? Like, not 'I know what they look like, I just don't know the person's name or who they are.' I mean like I didn't see their face throughout the entire dream so I don't know which of my friends they are. But if I had to guess, this person would be Emily, a friend of mine and my ex's little sister. Only reason I say this is cause while in her POV her hair fell onto her face and it was blonde, she's one of the only blonde friends I have lol. So without further delay, and cause cuddle buddy is patiently waiting for me to finally reply, the story begins. Enjoy~
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Last night, multi-billionaire Abel Bessette sent his daughter to live in a secluded area of upstate New York for a change of scenery after the sexual assault trial against her brother was closed. 16 year old Katherine Bessette was sent to live with relatives in upstate New York after her brother, Sebastian Bessette, 19, pled guilty to 3 counts sexual assault, incest and sexual harassment of a minor as well as 1 count rape. Her mother, Béatrice Bessette said "We hope she can find peace in the calm solitude that only the natural world can provide her with." Neither parent commented on the indictment of their son."
I rested the paper in my lap and looked out the window. They weren't kidding, this place is deserted, I thought as the rows and rows of trees passed the car. Francisco stared blankly at his hands. Marvia and Nicole read silently as Veronica tapped to the beat of a song on the handle of the door. Elizabeth watched the road ahead with sleep deprived eyes as she drived and Haux, in the passenger seat, followed suit. I looked back at the newspaper, unamused by my surroundings, and a picture of Kat breaking down in court caught my eyes. I realized this would be the first time I saw her since the trial started. I couldn't go to any, the only one that could was Elizah and that was only if she was able to handle it.
"How much longer?" Veronica's question breaks the silence and Elizah looks at her through the rear view mirror as she answers, "About 30 minutes, though it's getting dark, so this might be a one-way trip and we stay at hers for the night." I look back down at the paper and she continues, "plus there's a storm coming, and I'm not looking forward to riding through it," she remarks as she eyes the grey clouds overhead. We continue to drive in silence until a massive pillar of smoke comes into view. We watch as lights dance on the crowns of the trees. The car slows to a stop and we all stare, voicing our thoughts.
"A... Camp fire?'
"Too untamed, a wild fire?"
"Smells unclean..".
"A house fire...," Elizah almost whispers as the realization that the house Kat was sent to should be right around where we are hits her, and just as hard, she floors it. The idea finally sinks into our heads with anxiety hot on it's trail. We all wait with held breaths as we drive past the curtain of trees, anticipating the worst, hoping the best. And then it comes to view, the Victorian era styled house from the pictures in all it's glory, engulfed in flames. Elizah is halfway out the car when she yells "Call the cops! Search for a trail! I'm going in!" As she bursts through the doors, unfazed by the burning flowers on the windowsill just 3 feet away from her. Haux follows right behind. Nicole pulls out her phone, Veronica and Francisco bolt to the right and Marvia and I go to the left. We scan the ground for disturbed earth from when Kat fled, if she fled.
"Over here!" Francisco shouts from the back of the house. Marvia and I head over and we see Elizabeth and Haux climb out the first floor window and jog up to us as well. Foot prints of bare feet, boots and paw prints lead into the forest behind the house. Haux pulls out his glock from its holster and we follow them in.
"Katherine! Katherine! Katherine, honey, if you can here me, give me a sign!" Elizah calls as she searches frantically for any sign of Kat. Barking can be heard from about 20 yards away and we head towards it, assuming, hoping it's Kat's dog, Adriel. As we get closer, we can see a guy holding a shovel as he struggles to fight off a giant German shepherd and only a yard away, Kat as she desperately tries to shrink away into a huge bush. Haux holds up his gun and calls a warning to the guy, like all good cops do, and shoots him in the arm after he refused to heed two more warnings and attempted to hit Adriel with the shovel. He drops it, yelling profanities before Adriel knocks him off balance and Haux holds him down, Veronica goes to his side to offer help.
Francisco is already at Kat's side cooing in her ear to calm her down as she babbles unintelligibly. Elizah, Marvia and I walk up to her. The panic attack subsides, she looks at our faces and then cries, muttering "I don't want to be alone," repeatedly between sobs. Francisco holds her close and rocks them both back and forth while she trembles. We all stand back and watch as the sound of sirens approach from afar.
