Light shone through the small cottage that I lived in, in a small forest. On the outskirts of a town by the name of Salem. In America. It was where the witch trials were held and innocent children were killed for being thought of as witches. I awoke to bright light shining into my bright blue eyes. Opening my eyes slightly, I blinked a couple of times, my eyes adjusting to the sun light seeping in. Getting up in one quick and swift move. I made my way down the small hallway from my bedroom to kitchen and lounge room. The house I lived in was small and abandoned. I managed to find a few bits and bobs to do the house up in. I also had to hid my blood bags when I had visitors. Yes I did say blood bags, because if you can guess I’m a vampire. Yep; I’m a vampire. I drink blood. But there are myths about vampires and how we “can’t walk out in the sun or else we start to burn” which is a load of bullshit! We vampires can walk out in the sun light but only for a little while. Or else we do start to burn!

I walked into the kitchen and went in search of a blood bag. Running my fingertips over the cool marble counter top, my mind wandered. I was trying to figure out somethings with vampires. I’m a new born. Only a year old. Walking through the kitchen, I searched for the blood bags that I had hidden away. Opening each of the plain brown wooden cupboards, I continued my search. Once I came to the last cupboard, just above the white fridge. Opening it up I noticed I had only 3 blood bags left.

‘Shit.’ I muttered.

I go through about 5 blood bags a day. Being a new born is hard as well. Because we are continuously hungry.

Pulling out one of the last 3 bags. I felt the bag’s unintentional weight. I have to get blood and fast. My friend that I know who is a witch and a healer couldn’t actually save me from becoming a vampire but did manage to break the sire bond. Now the sire bond is a bond between a new vampire and their creator. Who is also a vampire. I remembered I had to go into the town. Just to get some more blood. Some people were very trustworthy. Plus Salem has modernized over the centuries. It also has still some of the historic buildings from the times of the Salem Witch Trials. I see most of the spirits that have passed on. The innocent children. Especially 16 year old girls that were hung, gruesomely burnt at the stake and thrown into lakes to drown; just to prove that they weren’t “Spawns of Satan and concocting witchery”. I was so lost in my thoughts that I hadn’t even noticed that I had finished the blood bag that was hanging from my mouth. My fangs had pierced the plastic and blood was covering my lips. Removing the bag, I threw it in the trash. Licking my lips, I walked back down the hallway, that was decorated in pretty patterns of ocean blue and lilac purple. It swirled up the wall heading towards the ceiling.

I walked into my sun lit room. It was painted an ocean blue like the walls in the hallway. But they didn’t have a pattern on them. I walked over to the old wooden closet. Pulling open the rough wooden doors, I searched through looking for a pair of dark blue wash skinny jeans and a plain white fitting tank top. I then slipped on my favourite worn out converses. Speaking of which, I must get a new pair of those. I walked back into the hallway heading towards the entrance of the house.

Picking up my keys and purse from the table near the front door of the house, I opened it to see that the sun was hidden behind some trees. I picked my sunnies up to hide my red rimmed irises due to the fact that I have recently drank some blood. Slipping them on, I brushed my red and orange streaked hair out of my face. It hung around my shoulders. It was quiet long. Coming to sit down at just below shoulder length. I zipped out into the sun and managed to make it into town with out getting burnt. Everything passed me by in a blur of green until I saw the gothic styled buildings of the main town of Salem loom up in front of me. I slowed down to a walking pace. Keeping to the shadows. I walked through the shaded alleys in search of the local blood bank.
