I was walking home when it happened. First I heard the howl coming from the woods and then I heard the running.

I panicked, it was coming for me at an impossible speed and I didn't want to see what it was. As it was just about to reach me I looked back. Behind me was standing Ayden, the new guy. How did he get there? He wasn't walking this way before, not even a fast walker could have caught up. Then it hit me, I felt so dumb for not putting it together.

It was him, Ayden was the one running behind me.

"What the?" I ask, probably looking like an idiot with your mouth hanging open.

He runs at you and puts his hand on your mouth so you don't say anything. "Keep quiet," he whispers and pushes his hand harder over your mouth, making your whole face ache.

I hear a ruffle in the trees to your right, on the other side of the road. His hand pushes against your mouth even harder, making me want to scream with pain. I even attempt to but he stops you by pinching your arm.

We wait for another five minutes or so and only then does he begin to speak.

"Don't you dare say another word or I'll kill you fast and quiet. No one will even know what happened," he whispers incredibly quiet, i didn't even know it was possible for someone to whisper so quietly. He seems like a super human now, whispering so quietly and moving so fast i don't even think is possible.

I nod to let him know that you'll cooperate. He loosens the pressure of his hand as he notices your nod. At least this killer knows how to treat someone.

We wait for another two minutes or so and i hear nothing. He suddenly releases you and starts walking away.

"Wait!" I shout after him.

He suddenly runs at me again and grabs my pins my arms to my back like a policeman handcuffing.

"I told you not to say a word," he hisses.

"How was I meant to know when to start talking and when to stop?" I ask, a tinge of anger in my whispering voice.

"If it wasn't for you then I could have done a sneak attack but of course they would go for you and kill you before I got the chance. It's all your fault, you mess everything up in ways you can't possibly know!" He lashes out.

"How am I meant to apologise then if I don't know what I did?"

"You can't apologise stupid girl, sorry doesn't change anything."

Ayden is really getting on my nerves. Who does he think he is?

"How did you do that? How did you run so fast before?" I ask, my eyes burning with curiosity.

"I don't know what you mean," he answers firmly.

"Of course you know, now tell me or I'm reporting this."

"Fine. I was on the track team on my past school, i was really fast, nothing more."

As if I would fall for that. It's obvious he's lying. But why would he go to such an extent to lie? Wouldn't it just be easier to tell the truth to stop someone's nagging? I know that's what I would choose.

"And who was chasing you or you who were you trying to chase?" I ask with a suspicious look.

"It's rather what I was trying to chase and what was trying to kill you. But it's none of your business so keep walking and forget what happened," he says and waves me off.

"I'm not leaving until you tell me the truth," I say and stomp my foot.

I'm not backing out from this fight, I want to know what the hell happened. He may want me to walk away like nothing happen and forget but if he likes it or not, I'm involved and I want the truth, the whole truth.

"Then I guess I'll be going," he says and runs off into the woods.

I try to run after him but it's no use, he's too fast. I try and search out where he went but I get nothing. He's vanished into thin air. I guess I'll have to bug him about it in school tomorrow.

Because what I know is that I'm not going to just forget what happened, I need to know or it's going to itch in my head forever.
