Difference between rational and irrational fears.

In some situations, it's perfectly natural to feel some level of fear.
huwag lang sobra sobra kasi hindi kasi maganda sa kalusugan natin.

Like,

A healthy fear response is an evolutionary advantage that's helped humans survive in a hostile world for thousands of years.

There are other examples of healthy fears that deal with more immediate dangers, and many of these seem to be rooted in our genetic makeup.

Example, Fear of falling stops us from playing Frisbee on rooftops, for instance.

Similarly, a fear of debt or losing property can help ensure we turn up to work every day.

Healthy fears are an important part of making sensible life decisions. They encourage us to take a step back and evaluate how our choices will affect us and they help us avoid putting ourselves in danger.

However,

Unhealthy fears, on the other hand, can lead to inactivity and can prevent you from making progress in your life.

These fears are irrational responses to dangers that only exist in the mind.

They can have a paralysing affect on people, so that they avoid doing anything that would mean confronting that fear. Other irrational fears that can cause the most difficulty and distress.

For example,

if you were hiking and came across a bear, feeling afraid would be a perfectly normal and healthy response, because you're in a dangerous situation.

On the other hand, if you refuse to travel on airplanes because you're afraid the plane will crash, this fear is largely irrational.

Flying is statistically much safer than driving your own car.

Understanding when fear makes sense and when it doesn't can help you conquer your responses.
