10 Steps Back

I woke up and started up on breakfast. While I was making it Yuta comes in with his bed head.

"Hey beautiful!" He said as he kissed me. It was a long one and very sweet. When he pulled away he shoved something in his mouth. I hit him with a rag. "

"You jerk! Distracting me so you can be sneaky."

"Sorry!" He said with a devilish smile. "Oh and it was delicious!"

"Go sit down you child!" I laughed.

"Oh I have a surprise for you!" He tells me.

"Really? What is it?"

"If I tell you it wouldn't be a surprise."

"Well I have one too."

"I can't wait to hear it." He said as he sets the table.

"It's just about done but I have more cause you already took some." I said.

"Oh well then, I don't regret it!"

"Really now? Well I guess I'll take some of yours then!"

"Hey don't do that!"

"I wont regret it!"

"But you'll pay!"

"Oh boy does this sound interesting!" I joked. I put his food on his plate. "I um might become busy Yuta." I said as I looked at him sadly.

"Well I already am busy. So that's fine by me as long as it's what you want to do." He said with earnest eyes. I smiled, "It is!"

Yuta got ready for work and he was having trouble with his tie. "Here let me help you with that!" I suggested as I walked up to him. I fixed his tie and noticed that he really looks good like that.

"How did you learn to tie a tie?"

"My mom, she said that it's her favorite thing to do."

"Oh right you been hanging out with her. How is she?"

"Not so good...her and dad have been fighting and well it's effecting everyone."

"Oh well I'm sure they will work it out."

"Maybe it just seems like everything is taking a major step back. I'm just hoping things get better for them."

"Me too...I wish I could stay and cheer you up."

"I'll be fine! You just have a good day." I said as I gave him a quick kiss. I walked him out. "Knock their socks off!" I said with a wave.

He waved back, "Just for you!" He called back and I watched him until he disappeared. He's so busy yet he always cheers me up.

I was cleaning up the house when I noticed my cellphone go off. What the...it's the one place that I made the bidding. Hopefully it's to tell me that I got the place.

"Hello?" I quickly answered.

"Hello is this Ms. Hyoto?"

"Yes it is?"

"We're very sorry to tell you this but some gentleman came in last night and gave a higher price for the building you were interested in." What no! "We would like to know if there was another offer you could give us?"

I feel tears fall from my eyes. "Ugh no...no there isn't...that was all I had saved up...I'm sorry."

"That's okay, thank you for your time." And the line went dead.

I can't believe this! I'm honestly so depressed that I just stayed home and ate away my sorrows.
