It was Wednesday, the first week of school, at lunch, when Phil couldn't stand it any longer.

"Louise have you gotten any information on that freshman I was asking about?" Phil whispered, acting like his game was a big secret.

"No, I've asked all my usual sources and they've got nothing, it's like that kid had no feelings for anyone in the past, boy or girl," Louise saw the deflated look on Phil's face so she exclaimed, more cheerfully, "don't worry Phil, I'm sure something substantial will pop up sometime, I'll make sure to keep digging and asking." Louise mirrored Phil's bright look as she delivered more news.

"I'm sure you boys heard, hell I'm sure the whole school's heard, but Joe and Caspar are throwing a party on Friday night. Apparently it's to 'celebrate'," Louise quoted the word with her fingers, "the start of senior year." She added as an afterthought, "which is probably just an excuse to get as drunk as possible before the football season starts."

Phil's ears perked up. "Are lower classmen invited?"

"Probably not but they go anyways, and its not like people will be able to tell."

"Why do you ask?" PJ questioned.

"Maybe I could take a date, or find the freshman there." Phil replied, hope laced into his voice.

"Why are you pursuing this boy so hard? Last year once there wasn't anything there you dropped it, why keep digging into this particular kid's life?" PJ fumed, his eyebrows furrowed.

"Why does it concern you, Peej?" Phil sasses back with just as much attitude.

"I mean I just don't understand why you're so obsessed-"

"It's just part of the fucking game, okay! Nothing else, that's it, conversation over. I'll see you guys after school." Phil jumps up from the table, slings his bag over one shoulder, and storms out of the cafeteria, all eyes on his retreating figure.

PJ rests his head in his hands, frustrated, as Louise exits the lunch room to go after Phil. A few minutes later when most conversations have been started up again PJ looks up to see that damn freshman looking at him. The kid, Daniel, and his friend both looked towards PJ's seat again only to find him missing. The younger kids made eye contact as the senior sat across from them at their table.

"Uh hi," Chris said with confusion noticeable in his voice.

"Hi, my name's PJ. What's your guy's names?"

"Well I'm Chris and that's Dan, why are you sitting with us?"

"My friends left."

"Yeah we saw that, why'd you choose to sit with us though?"

"Why do you ask so many questions?" PJ retorted.

"Why are you friends with Phil Lester?"

"Why are you friends with Daniel?" PJ sneered.

"Will you two stop? You're both really annoying me, and I prefer to be called Dan."

"I'm sorry, your highness." PJ said obnoxiously as he attempted to bow as he sat in his seat. Chris snorted as Dan rolled his eyes. PJ took another bite of his apple as he thought of what else to talk about. The party, he thought, I could invite them and make it up to Phil.

"Did you two hear about Caspar and Joe's party this weekend?"

"Obviously, but I doubt we're invited."

"Well this is me, inviting you."

"Is Phil going to be there?" Dan asked warily.

"Yeah but-"
