Rose slumped down onto her bed, too pissed off for words.
“What’s so damn good about Katerina anyways? So what if she’s a Moroi who can fight. Blah, blah, blah,” muttered Rose, “Look at me. I’m a princess. Ooh, look I have a promise mark.”
Rose got off the bed and kicked her nightstand over in fury.
“Just because you can fight doesn’t mean that Dimitri loves you! What the hell is messed up in your righteous royal brain? Clearly you say that you care for everyone like you’re supposed to but all you are is a self-centred sanctimonious bitch like your mother!” screamed Rose.
There was a timid knock on the door.
“What?!” screamed Rose opening the door.
Adrian stepped back appalled.
“Sorry…” apologized Rose, “I didn’t mean to snap at you like that.”
“You want to talk about it, little Dhampir?” asked Adrian.
“Are you sure you’re not going to criticize you for talking about Katerina?” asked Rose, biting her lip.
“Try me,” smiled Adrian walking in, closing the door behind him.
Rose took a deep breath and took a seat on the bed next to Adrian, “Where do I begin?”
“From the beginning,” suggested Adrian.
“I don’t even know what the beginning is anymore. But I’ll try. So my troubles started that fateful day when Katerina came to St. Vlad’s. She said she was trying to become Americanized, but I know what she was doing there. She was there to spy on us, the queen’s watchdog as Christian called her,” frowned Rose, “Then once she got there and saw Dimitri, her priorities shifted and all she wanted to do was to get him away from me. From what I could see, he idolized her. I don’t know why someone as great as Dimitri would idolize someone as shitty as Katerina.”
Adrian nodded for her to continue, his face impassive as he listened.
“Then she gets all depressed and whatever. Like I get she’s a Spirit user, but keep your damn problems to yourself. And what I hated most was that she was pretending to be my friend, to gain my trust to stab me in the back. She’s got Dimitri now and now she’s all smug like saying oh he never loved you. He just pretended because he was so hurt over my leaving him and crap like that!” said Rose angrily.
“Can we forget about Katerina for tonight?” asked Adrian.
“NO! She’s ruining my life!” exclaimed Rose.
“Can you let me make you feel better?” asked Adrian, slightly hurt.
She looked at him reluctantly and realized that she was being unfair to him. She had promised him a chance and all she had done for the last half hour was complain about what a wretched bitch I was.
She nodded, “I’m sorry Adrian. This is so unfair to you. I promised you a chance and all I did was complain to you. Let me make it up to you.”
She pulled Adrian towards her and snuggled with him under the covers.

It had been a long day and I was tired. The drinks made my head woozy and I really hated it. It made me keep thinking, “What if a Strigoi were to attack me now? I would be defenceless.”
I walked into our suite and called out to my mother, “I’m back mother.”
I was greeted with silence, which was unusual. It was past noon, she should have been back in the room by now.
