Chapter 3

I wake up and the sun is beginning to rise, I’m not ready to get up, I grab my phone and realize I have 8 messages and its 7:30am. I groan very quietly so I don’t wake up Alex and then that’s when I realize Liam is here too. I look over and see Liam is all curled up in his blanket but his face is so sad and it twitches as I realize he is having a nightmare. I scoot over to him and shake his shoulder gently as his eyes bolt open and he gasps.

“It’s okay; it was just a dream…” I whisper, he sits up slowly and wraps his arms around me in a tight hug; I realize he is shaking. “Are you okay?” I ask him and he grips onto me tighter, I take that as a no.

I move a certain way so Liam’s head is on my lap and he draws circles on my knees with his fingertips. I unlock my phone and I see that all the messages are from Josh, oh crap I forgot to text him last night!!! He’ll be so upset!!! I think as I scroll through the messages, upset is right!!

Hey Taylor it’s Josh

Hey!

Hello?

Did I say something to hurt you?

…Fine don’t answer then, wow I thought you liked me back

You can’t even take a second to respond?

….?

Just don’t text me ever you, slut!

I read the last word of the last text and tears roll down my cheeks into Liam’s hair as I see that my tears disappear into his chocolate brown hair. I guess he feels them because he turns over to look at me crying, everything from his eyes turns to caring and he sits up as he holds me against his chest. I listen to the steady heartbeat underneath his tee and try to calm down, but what I wonder is why Alex hasn’t heard us yet. She must’ve been really tired because she is not a deep sleeper. Liam strokes my hair as he takes my iPhone from my hand and reads the messages; as soon as he is done reading he tosses it over on the other side of the couch and goes back to stroking. That’s the last thing I remember before I fall back to sleep.

****Liam’s Perspective***

Taylor falls asleep in my arms, I hold her for a bit before laying her down on the couch and covering her with a blanket because she is only wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top. I lean down and kiss her forehead as in to say ‘sleep well, and don’t cry’, I pick up her phone as I tip toe past Alex on the bean bag chair and make my way upstairs. I got into her kitchen and sit down with a glass of orange juice as I think up of what I’m going to say to this douche bag for calling Taylor a slut. I feel so bad for Taylor, it is my fault she didn’t answer any of those texts because I am heartbroken; I gulp back the pain and tears. You are a jerk for not letting Taylor explain what happened, you don’t deserve to breathe the same air as her. I think you should go screw with someone else but not my Taylor or else!!! I so want to type that and send it to him but if Taylor found out I think she’d have my head on a stick. Her phone starts to ring, unknown caller, who would be calling at 8:07am; it’s too early… I don’t even know why I am up before 11am. I answer it.

            “Hello?”

“Taylor, do you hate me?” I am being mistaken for Taylor, what the hell?
