(im listening to vocaloid and writing this when i should be doing homework sorry if this isnt good gomenasai senpai)
He shouldn't have been doing this. But the adrenaline rush always sent waves of ecstasy over him, he had to do it. It probably was not proper etiquette for a Prince to be stealing and running amuck around the town square. Had he been caught? Yes. Many, many times. And his father was not the proudest of men when he was summoned to come collect his rowdy son. Yet he continued to act out of line. "He is a rebellious youth." his father would say. "Soon he will mature." When was soon? His 18th birthday was rapidly approaching, but his maturity was not.
Nathaniel Alexandrovich Bardzecki was not a model Prince. He lied, stole, and acted like a child at times. His father, Kazimir, broke his back trying (and failing) to improve his son's undesirable attitude. It was becoming harder and harder to get Nathaniel out of whatever trouble he had gotten into. Kazimir was getting more exhausted. He had a Kingdom to run, and a son to discipline. He could not possibly do both at once, not even with the help of Dean. The two had a complicated and ambiguous relationship, it is best not to go into the details here. Kazimir truly loved his son, he just did not love the way he behaved. He had promised the late Elena that he would take care of him. He was determined to stay true to his words, even if it killed him.
"I'm trying hard, I really am. Just cut me some slack." he muttered.
Kazimir sighed. "If your definition of trying hard is wandering aimlessly and stealing, I do not want to hear it. You are turning 18 soon, and you behave like you are 8."
"Sorry..?" Nathaniel said, hesitant.
"Sorry is what you say every time, Nathaniel. Yet I see no change in the way you act. If you keep this up...I do not know what we will do about this."
With that, Kazimir left the room, his great cloak flowing behind him. Nathaniel was left to mull over his actions, which he did for about 30 seconds before slinking out of the window to his room. He'd grow up when he had to, he told himself. After all, he had to have some fun before being handed all of these responsibilities. Smoothly, he shifted from his human form into his feral one. Nathaniel, just like the rest of his family, was an Ailuran. A feline shapeshifter who could appear as human or as a large, stocky beast. Although socially, Ailurans were below humans, they were respected fighters and militants. They had their own form of government and their own realms, but ultimately served their human superiors. Quite boring, Nathaniel thought. He thought about it subconsciously as he ran through the lush underbrush of the forest without a care in the world. Truthfully, he had many cares. He just discarded them at times like this. Here, away from his responsibilities and duties, he felt carefree. Closing his eyes, Nathaniel took in the scents of the forests. The towering, ancient trees, the flowers, everything. He only ceased to take it all in when he began to feel a searing, agonizing pain in his hind paw.
It took Nathaniel mere seconds in order to register that he had caught himself in a bear trap. Although, it was more of an Ailuran trap. Bears did not inhabit this area. As previously stated, Ailurans were not the most respected. It was quite obvious that a human had laid this trap in order to catch an unsuspecting Ailuran. Nathaniel's head was spinning. He could do nothing but cry out...that is, until he passed out from the pain and shock.
In the far reaches of the forest, the animalistic cries pierced her ears. She perked up, and frantically searched for whichever direction the noises had come from. She decided East, and headed just that way. Usually, she would have been there in a few minutes if she had brought her noble Pegasus steed along with her. She hadn't this time, and had to make the trek on foot. The girl kept a firm hand on the hilt of her sword all the way, lest it be a rabid animal. What she did not expect to find was a boy with his leg gushing blood. He was no ordinary boy, no. He was an Ailuran. It was not hard to tell, since he possessed twin feline ears atop his head along with a bushy auburn tail. She stood in shock for a moment before furiously working at the trap. After prying his leg from its steel grasp, she assessed the damage. It was not looking good. pulling a cloth from her pocket, she tried to staunch the blood flow. The dainty white kerchief had soon turned crimson. After tying it round his leg as best she could, she sat back, panting, both in shock and out of exhaustion from her hastily made trip.
"Are...are you alright? I-I know that's a bad question to ask, but I'm just asking for..the sake of asking." she said.
He didn't respond. He breathed in and out shakily, with his eyes fixated on the ground. The boy was too shocked and in far to much pain to thank her. She reached her hand out, gesturing for him to take it. He barely mustered the strength to. She helped lift him up, and slung his arm over her shoulder. It looked a bit awkward, though, since he was very much taller than her. He half limped half dragged his way along, aided by her grasp. She's gentle, he thought to himself. He liked that. He really liked that. She was quite cute as well, in the way you might call a small animal cute. She had a head of curly black hair, and the iciest of blue eyes. Although she was not the skinniest, she secretly possessed massive amounts of strength. He admired that. He didn't even know her name, yet he had already picked out a list of things he admired about her. Was this karma, he thought, for his deviancy and wrongdoings? It had to be. The throbbing pain in his leg proved as a sufficient answer to his question.
"I'll have my father see you. He's an amazing healer." she assured him.
Nathaniel did not reply. He did not have the strength to. He simply nodded.
"You're lucky I found you. You could have bled out."
No reply.
She giggled a little. That was cute, too. "Sorry, you're probably in too much pain to talk. But by the way, my name is Louise. I'd prefer if you'd call me Lou, though. I don't like being formal."
Ahead of them, peaks of towers were visible. Lou obviously saw them, because she commented on them.
"Welcome to the Kingdom of Nohr. Soon you'll meet my father, Lord Redd." Lou said.
If those words were supposed to be music to Nathaniel's ears, they had to be the most twisted, out of tune music he'd ever heard.
