God damn math, Peridot thought as she gave her last remaining fucks about question 10. She sighed and decided to finish the study guide later tonight (no thanks to Ms. Quartz) and shoved the paper into her binder. She looked up and subtlety frowned at the math teacher, hinting she wanted to go home as soon as possible. She didn't seem to notice her. She was busy babbling to Pearl, her star-student, about the house she just moved into with her boyfriend, Greg. Pearls lip twitched at his name. She wasn't used to Pearl getting upset in front of teachers, especially Ms.Quartz. But it was kind of funny seeing her get flustered, even if it was super low-key.
She was interrupted from her thoughts by a finger jabbed into her back.
"Hey P." She said casually.
"Hello Amethyst." Peridot smiled.
Amethyst has been Peridot's friend since their Junior year, although they had their ups and downs she was still close with her. She was a little too touchy and rough for Peridot's taste, but she couldn't complain, she'd be very lonely in school without her.
"Wanna go to Ruby's party tonight? I hear that she's finally making a move on Sapphire there and it's going to be a 'Not-to-be-missed' moment."
"I have to study for the Regions and I don't think my Mom would let me go anyway but thanks for inviting me."
"Awwwwh come on P! That's in a month! You're in high school! Let loose a little, rebel a little! This is supposed to be one of the best years of our lives!"
"No thanks, I'm not really in the mood to 'let loose a little'."
"Ok...you don't have to go, but at least help me and Steven T.P. Coach Jasper's house."
"Mmmmmmh, not my type of scene." Amethyst frowned.
"Pffft, fine, suit yourself" She shrugged and as if on cue the bell rang.
~Time Skip~
She glanced at her living room's digital clock.
10:48
Fuck, I've been studying for an hour already?! Screw this, I'm going to bed, I already know everything so why do I even bother? She thought hastily as she packed up her History and Science notes. She trudged to bed, her feet dragging against the stupid laminated wood floors her step mom put in. She flopped onto bed and pulled the covers over her. She shivered at the new found warmth, so she tucked her toes in too.
She tossed and turned for at least half an hour but it felt like an eternity. So she let her mind run wild in the mean time.
I should've agreed to go to the party...
It beats laying here alone.
I wonder what happened to Ruby? I hope Sapphire liked her back, she deserves it. She has been fussing over her for the last...what...2 years now? Beats me...
Her phone buzzed next to her. She pressed the power button and squinted at the bright light. She had received a text from Amethyst. It read "Wish you were here!<3". Above it was a slightly fuzzy photo of Steven, a drunk Amethyst holding three toilet paper rolls and a girl with blue hair that she didn't recognize.
Did they actually T.P Jasper's house? Probably not, Amethyst wouldn't dare risk getting kicked off the softball team.
Teams...
The word stuck out to her.
Hmmm...
TEAMS! I have to join a school sports team to pass my gym grade! FUckkkkkkkkk! FUCK YOU ATHLETIC PEOPLE!!
She started to focus her schools team tryouts.
Softball? No, they already had try outs.
Lacrosse? Hell no, everyone who tries out are too god damn competitive. It's a waste of my time trying to get in.
Track and Field? Walk on, but I hate running.
Finally, The Swim Team. It's walk on and I actually don't mind swimming, so it's a possibility.
Since I don't necessarily have a choice...
With a sigh she thought,
Swim Team it is.
