Crystal looked at me and gave me a sad smile.
"Oh Tricia, come here" She embraced me in a hug. "Why haven't you told him yet? I'm sure my brother will understand."
Oh yeah. Did I forget to mention the little heart-crusher is siblings with my bestfriend? Well now you know.
"No he won't. How can he seriously have feelings for me when he was already making a move on that girl, Mellisa? I mean, how could I compete with that?" I put my hands over my face and dramatically plopped onto the couch.
I felt a dip beside me. Crystal was rubbing my back for reassurance. "Listen, you're going to have to tell him sooner or later. Take it from his sister, I know when my brother is 'head over heels' for a girl."
"Then why did he completely diss our date for that Mellisa girl over me?" I asked.
"I don't know, boys are complicated like that. He's my brother and I still don't understand." She rolled her eyes at that.
I stood up making my way to my room when Crystal said something that made me freeze and stop dead in my tracks.
"Believe me, things are going to get better. It's okay" She smiled.
My eyes widened.
*Flashback*
"You too? Hey, I know how it feels, it's okay."
"That...sounds very familiar, where did you hear that from?" I asked her CLEARLY surprised.
"Uh, well it's just something people say to make someone feel better...also because I would always tell that to my roommate all the time." She chuckled at the thought.
"Crystal...is that roommate of yours, by any chance, tall, muscular built, and a guy?" I asked suspiciously.
"Yeah, why?" She asked a bit unsure.
I turned back to her and sat back down on the couch.
"I think I might've met your roommate." I answered with a heavy sigh.
"Oh well that's great! He's a really cool guy, his name is James. Him and I have been through thick 'n thin together." She grinned. But that smile vanished when she saw my distraught face.
"What's wrong, Tricia?"
"The guy, James you just mentioned is a guy I NOW find just as jerk-filled as Jake. As James and I were walking towards the exit in the restaurant, he looked at Mellisa like as if he knew her, like there was some past between them. So anyone who's associated with Mellisa is no one I care about or want to hang around." I rolled my eyes, stood up again, and began heading to my room.
"But Patricia, wait! Mellisa was his ex, that's why he's been acting so weird but honestly he's a really great guy!"
"Yeah sure, that's the same thing I thought about Jake...and look at how that turned out"
I was halfway up the stairs when the doorbell rang.
I let out a sigh of annoyance and went back down the steps toward the door. I wondered who could be at the door at 11:43 at night.
I opened the door and saw someone I honestly didn't expect to see.
"Hi"
