“Mommy and Daddy couldn't see you,” Angela said.
“I know,” Trisha replied.
“Why can't they?”
Trisha looked down for a moment. “You know, I think it's best I leave,” she began, “I have to go. And you have to stay here, though. I will not be here when you wake.” It was dark outside. Very little lights were on besides the few that went down her street and the ones in the park yards from her house. Both Angela and Trisha looked outside the bedroom window.
“But I don't want you to leave,” Angela said, looking now at Trisha. “Why can't you stay?”
“I'll come back one day.” Trisha was looking down the path. “I promise.”
“Well.... Okay. You promised.”
It wasn't long till Angela fell asleep with Trisha awake and laying beside her. “I promise I'll be back,” Trisha whispered. “I promise.” She ran the back of her hand gently on Angela's cheek, then disappeared.
