the next morning was a blur. Dan woke up in a sleeping bag on the floor of his new room. he hadn't yet unpacked all his furniture but that's what he was planning to do today.
dan sleepily rolled out and up from the bag and folded it up nicely. he trudged down the hall filled with unpacked catboard boxes.
as dan got closer to the kitchen, he heard Phil's voice growing louder and louder.
dan peeked his head and strained to listen.
"love you, call me as soon as you can."
"yeah okay."
"bye."
"no you hang up."
Phil must have a girlfriend.
dan listened to Phil repeating those words until he couldn't take it anymore and just walked to where Phil was.
"okay bye" Phil hung up the phone quickly and smiled at dan.
"hey dan, since we don't really know each other I was thinking we could go to a diner just down the road and talk? my treat."
dan became self-conscience of his weight then but shook away his thoughts "yeah sure I'll go get ready"
dan noticed Phil was already dressed
he hurried to his room and began getting ready
