"Come with me to the Halloween party." Danny asked Dalma after hours.
"Is this about the grade?"
"Yes. Not a date." He blushed.
"But that'll be in two weeks."
"Enough time to teach you to dance." He joked and she showed surprised, offended and playful at the same time.
"I could give you some lessons." She said haughty. "I don't have two left feet." She let him know.
He offered her a sweet smile. His face was lighted by good mood.
"From this, I should understand that you want to dance and so I can't dress like King Kong." She said.
"You can dress in anything you want as long as you're in that costume. With me." He said and she was embarrassed this time. "And as long as you can move." He added and she snorted.
"Okay." She agreed.
"Okay?" He couldn't believe it. "You'll really wait for me that long?" Everything he said was a romantic gesture, unwillingly from her part.
"It's not that far." She reconsidered.
"True. The future is good, right?" He meditated. "Knowing that it exists gives you strength, makes you pass through everything. If you have a cold, you know that in the future you'll be cured and you'll suffer waiting for the healing. The future is the best cure, right?" He asked her.
"Right." Dalma confirmed and began to understand why Iz told her that Danny was special.
He was insightive for one thing.
"Ah." He said remembering something. "If I'm not being too optimistic or too bold, I would like to invite you somewhere else. May I?"
Dalma weighed the optimistic part. Danny already considered their first get together will work and they'll go on a second one. What she could say to those sad eyes and that smile so bright?
"Where? When?" She asked curious, not knowing of any other party to which they could go.
"At the Talent Show for Thanksgiving." He said it as if she already had to know of such thing. "I've participated every year with something new and have won just as a freshman. I think this year I will take back that award. If you come."
He waited for her to answer but Dalma was still surprised that such a show was there and she hadn't heard about it.
"So far, Iz encouraged me and was the only one from school that had no business with the show or was related to any contestant coming to the show instead of going to Jeremy Sanders' birthday party where they all gathered."
Dalma had a memory enlightenment. Of course she didn't know about the show, she had always been co-hosting with her ex.
"I don't know whether to hate him, but Jeremy Sanders takes from us all the audience." He complained. "It's not much of a high school talent show if the only high scholars there are the competitors and their families."
Dalma smiled. She had her mind on what he had said before.
"Iz will come to the show?"
"Not this year." He said briefly. "This year you'll come."
"Your family isn't coming?"
"They don't count." Danny said a bit embarrassed. "They'll come with a camera." He explained.
Dalma smiled again admiring his childish timidity.
"So, we'll learn how to dance?" She recalled.
