13 year old Marie Johnson has transferred to a new school in Atlanta. She didn't want to go but she knew she had to. She didn't want to stay with her aunt Trina in California. So she decided to stay with go with her dad to his new job. Marie mother died in a car accident two years back. Her dad and mother was on their way back from Dubai. Getting off the plane and headed back home , a drunk driver taking the wheel of a car running into the passenger side killing the mother on instant impact.

After that aunt Trina hasn't been right. She started using and abusing drug like there was no tomorrow. She began getting addicted to them and Marie feared for her cousin. Trina started selling her kids for coke and heroine.

Michael , Marie's dad , often worked alot but always made time for his baby girl. He wasn't the best dad but he did what he could do to provide food , shelter , clothing. He always made sure she had before he bought his self things. $50 dollars an hour isn't alot when you have to pay a mortgage and all utilities included.

Marie took her mother's death like any other 11 year old would. Hard. She went into a depressed stage. Her aunt Trina suggested for Marie to see a therapist thinking it would work but it didnt. Her made her snap. They diagnosed her with bipolar and gave her medication to treat it.

As time moved along she began to get back to her normal self. She would be transferring from California Middle school to Atlanta Middle. Although was friendly, she felt like she wouldn't make any friends. She'd often become quiet around a lot of people she didn't know.

Marie was so happy and full of life. It took her alot to get mad. People talked about her all the time because she didn't have the latest of the latest shoes , clothes , hair do's amd etc. No one ever really talked to her or tried to become her friend. Boys always threw themselves at her but they only wanted her goods and she was to smart for that. She made A's and B's....C's depending on the subject.

When Marie found out they were moving she knew that it was going to be a long way to go.
