"Let's just hope he's standing up for Rip and Jax now," Sara said.
"Who else is gonna take on those pirates?" Snart asked.
"I'm just saying, Mick just seems to be not in his right mind right now. That's the reason for hoping. He is our only hope."
"Mick may be angry at me, but I have to believe that he would make the right decision," Snart said. "But enough about Mick for right now, let's talk about something to get our minds off this damn engine room."
"Oh, your not trying to hit on me, are you, Leonard? It's just a little cold. I though that you would be able to last longer than this," Sara teased.
Snart rolled his eyes. "Just because I go by the name, Captain Cold, it does not mean I'm immune to the cold. Everyone seems to think I could survive in a damn igloo in Antarctica or something. I'm not invincible." Snart turned his head to look at Sara when she didn't respond. Her face was turning blue. Her eyelids were getting heavy, and it was then he was sure that he was seeing her start to fall unconscious. He immediately crouched down in front of her, took her face in his hands to make her look at him. "Sara! Sara, come on. Wake up." Sara whimpered, trying to open her eyes, fighting to stay awake. Snart lightly slapped her cheek a few times to startle her awake. Then she started to shiver almost uncontrollably. For five seconds, Snart just watched her, completely unknowing of what to do. Then suddenly, he did. He took off his parka and started to put it on her.
Sara, for a few seconds, fought him. "You need to stay warm, too, Leonard."
"Damn it, Sara. Don't fight me on this. You need it more than I do. I've got a sweater. It'll have to do. If you take off the jacket now, it'll only be useless because I won't put it back on."
"Does the famous Leonard Snart actually have a code of honor and chivalry?" Sara asked sarcastically.
"Believe it, Assassin. Even we criminals have honor, and every once in a while, chivalry." As he sat next to her, he watched Sara snuggle more into his jacket. She seemed to be more alert now, and the shivering had calmed down, but only a little. He'd take whatever he could get. Just as long as he kept her awake. If he kept her awake, he could keep her alive. He'd die first before he let her her freeze to death. He cared about her that much even now, but he wasn't even really going to tell her or anyone anytime soon. He then decided to just keep her talking. If it meant keeping his thoughts hovering over fantasies that were shooting through his mind at that very moment... she does look cute in my jacket....stop it!! "Nothing quite like dying to think about all the mistakes, all the wrong choices..."
"Is this Leonard Snart coming to God in his final moments?" Sara asked teasingly.
"Hardly..." Snart said.
SKIPPING AHEAD TO WHEN THEY LEAVE THE ENGINE ROOM
Snart looked up from where he sat and saw that the doors were opening. "Sara. The doors. Come on," he said, standing up, and helping Sara up as well.
"I guess Ray sealed the breach," Sara said, looking back to where the hole had been. As soon as they got into the hallway, they were welcomed with warmth. Gideon had actually put more heat into that hallway so they could defrost more quickly.
"I never thought that I could love the heat so much," Snart said.
"Seriously. I will never take advantage of it ever again," Sara replied. She looked down at herself and saw that she still wore his jacket. "Oh. You probably want this back."
As Sara took off his jacket and handed it to him, he thought back to the heart-to-heart moment they had just shared and realized he didn't want to talk about it or the magic would be gone. "Yeah, thanks." When he slipped his arms through the sleeves, they were still warm with her body heat. Putting the jacket over his shoulders, he smelled her perfume. He inhaled a few times to really take in that smell, and how fresh it was. Sara had her back turned to him and was rubbing her arms, so she wasn't witnessing him reacting this way. "Well, I say we better get back to Kendra and Ray, and make sure they're okay. Then let's find out what's going on on the other ship and lend a hand if we need to."
"Okay. Let's go, then." And they left the warm hallway.
About halfway to the cargo bay, Snart saw Sara rubbing her arms in attempt to keep herself warm. "Do you want my jacket again?" he asked.
"No, I'm good. Thanks," Sara replied.
"I just saw you shivering, and just wanted you to stay warm," Snart said, thinking about what they had shared in the engine room. He hoped he and Sara would be able to get closer as time went on because he realized that he actually cared about her and her safety.
"Thank you, but I'm okay. Nothing a little walking around to get the blood pumping again won't fix," Sara said.
"Alright. I just thought I'd offer," Snart replied. As they reached the cargo bay, Snart saw that Kendra was holding Ray, expressing her fear of losing him. Leaning up against the frame of the entrance to the cargo bay, he just watched them until there was a break in their conversation. "You kids need a moment?"
***So I was thinking about that episode even more and I thought it would be cool to have a scene between them once they got out of the engine room. I don't know. Whatever. I was bored. lol Please comment and let me know what you think.***
