Surprise

Kumiko's POV:

Mako's birthday is coming up soon and I need to prepare. I can't go to sleep. I don't know why I'm so unstable and tired. 

Makoto's POV:

I'm worried. Really worried. 

"Mako, I'm fine. I'm just tire-" she cut off her sentence and started to fall

I caught her before she reached to the ground and I started to panic. Holding her in my arms, I take a deep breath and calm down.

I feel her forehead and it's burning so I carry her bridal style to the Kupanaha Class and lay her down on the long couch.

I put her head on a pillow and look for blankets or towels. Surprisingly, they had everything I needed. Why don't the other classes have these things?!

I put the blanket on her and wet a towel to put on her forehead. After that I sat on a chair and watched her as she slept. She looked so peaceful.

After a while she woke up and tried to get up.

"What- ow!" she says as she holds her forehead.

"Hey, don't worry. Your ok. Just lay down. You just have mild fever." I say rushing to her helping her lay back down and get comfortable. 

"I have to get ready for your birthday. I'm not done planning." she said

"I told you before that I don't need anything for my birthday." I said

"And I'm telling you that I don't care. I'm making sure you have a good birthday." Kumiko said 

Kumiko tries to stand up, but sheʻs too weak. She look exhausted. I go to her and give her some support and sit me and her down on the couch.

Kumiko's POV:

I donʻt have the energy to remember how this happened to me. Iʻm so tired. 

Mako sat me down on the couch and he was next to me. I wanted to go to finish planning his birthday, but I was so tired. And Mako was so comfortable. I feel so safe with him. I know that if Iʻm with him, Iʻm ok.

"Kumiko, I know Iʻll have a good birthday... as long as your there with me. Because your the only reason why Iʻm still here." Makoto said right before I fell asleep on him.

What does he mean by Your the reason why I'm still here? Does he really care about me that much? Am I really that important to him?

Makoto's POV:

I have to admit. I did grow some feelings for Kumiko. Every time I see her, I smile.

I didn't want to wake Kumiko up by moving, so I just stayed there. Eventually, I fell asleep as well.

?'s POV

Kumiko, I'm sorry I had to do that to you. I love you. I want to show you that. But my father, he wants his son. Makoto Akiyama. My brother.

(Standing at a distance from school grounds)

"Come Kazuo, let's go home. You did well today." my father says

My father taught me not to let emotions take control over me. He said if I couldn't do that, I could never be his successor. This was a test.

Disappointed in my actions, I left to go back to my horrific home.

Kumiko's POV:

I woke up to someone next to me. I open my eyes and realize I'm at school. Then I remember what happened and saw Mako sleeping next to me with his arm over me.
