That Fateful Greeting

It's been a couple of days since I escaped the hospital and so far I've been in the middle of nowhere, in the woods...At least the moon can guide me...

The silence hanging in the midnight air is almost dangerous...it's creepy...trying to break  the silence I sigh softly glancing about...the grass is soft...unlike the city where the grass grows dry through the battered sidewalk cracks...

Looking up, I saw dark rain clouds start to form over the moon.  might as well find a place to stay. It looks like it's going to rain soon...

I looked around in hope of finding shelter, but to no avail I couldn't spot anything through the darkness that had just been spread throughout my vision.

A gunshot suddenly cracked into the air as loud as the booming thunder, but without the storm. It sounded like it came from all directions...Where is it coming from?...

My instincts had told me to run..to run as fast as I could away from the unknown gunfire that pierced the silence...but I didn't. Instead I looked around for something to defend myself if it ever came down to it, but all I saw were a few dead branches beyond my strength to pick up and rocks. "Well what am I suppo-. . . . . ."  Mentally facepalming I realized that I had failed to remember that I had weapons hidden in my dress just as Claire had told me days ago.

Bending over I lift the skirt of the dress up slightly to reveal a small cylindrical piece of wood. A bit confused I take it out of a pouch being held down by a thin leather belt that was wrapped tightly around my thigh.

3rd person Pov

She slowly brought it up in front of her and examined the unknown object that she was holding in her hand before seeing a faint outline of a button on the side of it. Hesitantly she pressed it and immediately dropped it from the sudden blade that protruded from the other side that caught her off guard.

After regaining her composure she bent down once more and retrieved the sharp dagger, failing to notice the blood dripping from her wrist. "What the hell?.." She muttered under her breath as she corrected her hold on the knife to prevent future accidents.

"Now, how do you accidently do that?"

The sudden voice that made itself known made her heart stop, and her mind began filling with panicked questions.

H-how did someone find me?!  Did they fire the gun!? B-but I made sure to cover my tracks!

"I-I don't know...I'm sorry sir, but what if she can be another use?" They continued.

"As in...parts? Like...body parts?"

She cautiously looked around for the source of the voices and stopped upon seeing four men in suits, one of which was wearing a snow white suit unlike the other three who were wearing black.

"Exactly." He said.

The man in white simply sighed and frowned. "Fine...But it's such a waste of the beautiful lamb..."

Observing their positions she made sure where they all were. The guy in white was in front of the carriage that she failed to notice, two were on both sides of a girl that had clearly passed out, or worse...died, and the other was leaning against a tree that was to the left from the guy in white. She slowly started moving for the tree that was shielding her from them, and in the process of doing so she managed to accidently step on conveniently placed twigs that cracked loudly under the pressure of her feet.
