Woke up this morning with a sore back, and neck. Terrible beds they have here. And the food....taste like something zombies might eat. Can't complain too much about the staff here yet...its only been 3 days anyway.
"Glad to see you're not complaining about us." My nurse mutters to me as she changes my fluid bag over and gives me a new one. I look at her and give her a sad smile.
"You're the nicest one out of all of them so far." I said making a little note in my diary. She smiled to herself as she grabbed the half empty bag and threw it away. It was true though, some of the nurses here were a bit on the rough side.
"You'll get to know us better Ms. Hill, don't you worry." She said as she exited my room, closing the door behind her. Hopefully she was right, after all it had only been 3 days.
~ FLASHBACK 3 DAYS AGO ~
"Jeremy stop touching my stuff!" I shout as I run down the stairs after my younger brother. It was the zillionth time I found him looking for things to steal in my room...stupid boys.
"Grace leave your brother alone." My mother shouts from the kitchen. When Jeremy hears her voice he runs and hides behind her because he knows he's save with her.
"It's annoying that he is always allowed to touch and take my stuff, and you guys never say anything..." I huff sticking my tongue out at him.
"And it's annoying when you guys fight like cats and dogs." States my dad, sitting at the coffee table while he reads the paper, not looking up one to see the commotion.
"Well maybe we wouldn't fight if you gu..." I was continuing to say when I was rudely interrupted by the phone. I threw my hands up and my brother fist pumped knowing that would probably be the last of the conversation.
My mom picked up the phone, as I grabbed an apple and headed into the living room to watch TV. I heard a little bit of the conversation of my mom on the phone, but not enough to make out who she was talking to. I sat on the couch and took a bite of the apple, when I heard my mom sobbing. Thinking a family member died, I prepped myself and walked into the kitchen with a grieving look. I see my mom hugging my confused brother while she cried, and my dad with a concerned look on his face, phone to his ear.
I remember days before I wasn't feeling god, and my mom found scabs and bruises on my back, so we went to get it checked out, and maybe that was the results....but how bad could it be? I was thinking it was something like bed-bugs...
" yes...we will start packing and we should hopefully be there by tomorrow...thank you doctor..." My dad said as he hung up the phone, and silently played it on the table, my mother stopped crying for a second as they all just looked at me. I looked at all of them trying not to how I was terrified and took a deep breath.
"We'll get through this together."
~ End of Flash Back ~
Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Stage 3. They said it was mostly in my chest, but they had to check if it had spread anywhere else. But they didn't give me a estimate time so I guess thats good. Who would have guessed I would be in this situation. I got excepting into Juilliard for the fall with a full ride scholarship, so many things were suppose to happen this year, and now...who knows.
I frowned to myself as mom and dad walked into the room. "Hey kiddo, how's our trooper today?" Mom asked walking tiny the room and sitting on the bed, I smiled and held up my thumb.
"Just a thumbs up?? You don't want to race down the hall??" Dad said nudging me, grabbing my wheelchair from the corner, I nodded but my refused.
"Absolutely not, under no circumstances will you be ra-" Suddenly it was like on command we all jumped as we heard a huge boom from down the hallway. The nurse, Gloria, was coming into my room to bring me a new blanket, when she was pushed out of the way by 2 young boys speeding down the hallways in their wheelchairs.
"Mr. Turner," Gloria called catching her balance, and moving before she got trampled by the two boys, "you better be careful, you're going to give yourself another heart murmur." She said throwing a towel at the boys head.
"Nothing ever slows me down Mrs. G, you know that already." He said stopping for a millisecond to hand her the towel back, he glanced into my room for what seemed like an hour. His chocolate brown hair was disheveled in his face, and in between the loose pieces of hair your could see his electric blue eyes. Blinking a couple of times, he whipped his chair around and continued down the hall, "Race ya to the ward!" He shouted to the other kid.
"Keep yourselves out of trouble!" Gloria shouted closing my door. Shaking her head she came in with some food for me, "here you go sweet, fresh from the kitchen!" He put the food down, and it finally looked like real food. Thank god...
