All there is, is silence. Nobody makes a sound. All I can hear is the bass of the music pouring from the headphones of the boy next to me, the quiet chatter of the girls sitting behind the driver, and the soft ding of people wanting off the bus.
Nobody makes a sound.
We are scared. Scared of talking to people we don't know. Scared of sitting too close. We set our bags on the seat next to us to ensure that nobody sits there.

We suck ourselves into our own little worlds and ignore the people around us. Public transportation used to be a place where you meet new people with crazy, interesting stories to share. Now it's sketchy and a place that causes anxiety. People feel uncomfortable standing too close to someone they don't know.
