Lavender was tired.
Part of her wanted to retire for the evening and have a nice nap on her heat mat, but she knew that if she didn't finish this chapter, it would bug her all night.

"You know, Mika will be back soon. I should get you back home"

Lavender snorted
"Aww come on Sunnie, just one more chapter? Please? This book is so good"

Sunnie looked at the door.
"Girl, you know I love you, but you can't keep putting us in danger like this. If we're caught, I'll never be allowed to see you again"

Lavender sighed
"Yeah, okay"

She got off of the book and allowed Sunnie to close it and put it back where it belonged.

She giggled, remembering the first time Sunnie had tried to put a book away. He couldn't quite get a grasp on it, and ended up practically shredding it. He got in big trouble for that one.

That part wasn't so funny.

Once the book was put away, Sunnie turned to Lavender and lowered his head.

"Alright Lav, climb on"

Lavender swiftly climbed up his snout, between his eyes, and settled on the crown of his head.

"You good?" Asked Sunnie

"Yeah, let's go"

Sunnie walked over to Lavender's cage, being careful not to drop his closest friend.

A scent caught Sunnie's nose making him pause.

"Woah, what's that?"

Sunnie placed Lavender down and followed the scent.

"Sunnie, what are you doing?!"

Lavender heard a school bus approaching from the open window

Oh no

Sunnie started for the door. Lavender tried to chase after him, but her tiny legs could only carry her so far, and eventually she was blocked by a large text book.

"Sunnie!"

Sunnie climbed down the stairs, following the scent until he was in the kitchen.

There, Mika's mother was pulling out the sweet smelling food from the oven. The pasties were long and covered in cinnamon sugar. Churros.

"Shoo Sunnie shoo!" Shouted Mika's mother

Sunnie whined and circled around the oven, he only stopped when he heard the front door open.

It was Mika.

All of a sudden, the smell wasn't so appetizing anymore. He dashed up the stairs only to find that it had been shut.

On the other side of the door, Lavender looked around, panicked.

"Sunnie! Where did you go?"

"I'm here" answered Sunnie

"Oh thank god, where are you? I can't see you, this giant book is in the way!"

"On the other side of the door. Listen we don't have much time, you need to hide. Mika is here!"

This is bad, this is really bad.

Lavender dashed towards the bed, hoping to hide under it, but tripped on a roll of tape.

When she tried to get up, she tripped again. She looked at her feet. They were caught on the tape.

Lavender frantically tried to escape, but her tiny feet were hopelessly stuck.

"Sunnie help!"

"Lavender! Are you okay?!" He called from the other side of the door.

"No! I'm stuck on a sticky thing"

"You need to h-"

He was cut off by Mika opening the door.

Sunnie dashed in and immediately spotted Lavender. He positioned himself in front of her, hiding her from their owner.

"Hey Sunnie"

She grabbed his leash from her desk and clipped it to get collar. She tugged on the leash. He didn't move.

"Let's go Sunnie"

Thinking quickly, Sunny lifted his leg and relieved himself on the carpet.

Ew

"Bad dog!"

Mika rushed out of the room.

Sunnie lowered himself to Lavender's level and gently removed the tiny reptile from the tape. "Sorry about that. Quick, climb on"

Lavender scampered onto his back, concealing herself in his soft, golden fur.

Sunnie dashed to Lavender's cage, but was stopped when Mika stepped on his leash.
She had several rolls of paper towels in her hands.

After the mess was cleaned up, she grabbed Sunnie's leash and angrily pulled him downstairs.

Lavender struggled to stay on.

The front door was opened and
Sunnie was pulled outside into the rain.

It's raining? Lavender thought.
It was sunny just a few minuets ago.

Raindrops fell onto Sunnie's fur, drenching it, making it hard for Lavender to breath.

Sunnie walked around, trying to be careful, but it was getting hard for him to see with all the wet fur in his eyes.

He slipped on a puddle.

He hit the ground hard and got mud all over his fur.

Mika sighed "Great, now I need to give you a bath"

Sunnie frantically got up and searched the mud puddle for any movement.

"Are you okay?! Lavender? Are you hurt?"

No response.

"Stop barking, let's go" Mika said in a stern tone.

She pulled on the leash, dragging Sunnie.

She eventually stopped and picked him up.

Sunnie wriggled and barked and even tried to bite his beloved owner, but he was still carried inside, leaving Lavender all alone.

The front door closed, and Lavender was left dazed and unable to open her mouth due to all the thick mud that coated her.

The storm got worse, and the area started to flood.

Lavender's vision was getting blurry, and she started to feel weaker.

Everything went black.
