Adam's POV

I walked down the halls, watching the person in front of me.I checked my schedule, looking up, trying to find my hall number.A sudden tap on my shoulder scared me, and I whipped around.I spotted the person I was supposed to be following (what was his name... Mitch?) making grabbing motions at the paper in my hands.I handed him my paper and he nodded, looking back at me and signing 'Thanks'.

I nodded, feeling a little grateful that the school gave me someone who knew ASL (American Sign Language). The guy started walking and I followed him.He stopped near hallway 1B, checking my paper again before grabbing my arm and pulling me along. We stopped at Room 22.I pulled open the door and waited.Mitch stood in front of me and suddenly all the students and the teacher looked up from their notebooks.

Mitch looked back at me and gestured at the room.I took the hint and started to introduce myself, in Sign Language. One of the kids in the room asked what I was doing, and I only knew this because I could read lips, slightly.I wasn't the best at it, but I was good enough to help myself out.

Ty's POV

I grabbed my backpack, walking out of my room and going into the kitchen and grabbing an apple. "Tyler, come here!"I heard from my Dad's office.I turned around and walked through the old wooden door,  my dad looking up from the paper's on his desk.He looked me up and down, getting up and enveloping me into a hug."Have a great day at school and"- he sighed, buttoning the top button of my shirt-"Make sure to keep this buttoned!"He said.I nodded, giving him a quick hug."I will Dad."I said, turning around and rushing out the door, hearing the bus.

I ran out, just barely hopping on the bus before it took off.I flopped ungraciously into my regular seat next to my best friend Steven. He snorted, hooking a finger under my collar."I know you want to continue your Dad's legacy or something like that, but really, the dress code is not needed."He said, pushing up his glasses.

I rolled my eyes, looking at my black pants and button up shirt."It's not that bad, besides, it's comfortable."I said, lying right through my teeth. The outfit was actually pretty itchy and a bit, in a word, prissy. But it made me look presentable, for being the town Preacher's son I guess. The bus stopped, the squealing sound of the doors filling my ears.

I said goodbye to Steven and walked to my first class, Math with Mrs.Baker.I walked through the door and sat in my seat near the back, pulling out my math journal and starting on the warm up.Student's began filling in, most of them saying hello to me as they sat down.I was pretty well known around the town, then again, everyone was.It was a small town, one of those cliche, "Everybody knows everybody and there are no secrets" kind of town.

I heard the door opening, waiting until I heard someone clear their throat to look up.By the door stood Mitchell and some kid I had never seen before. He was wearing a black and gray shirt, with a pair of matching jeans and some sun glasses. Mrs.Baker looked up from her desk."Oh, hello Mitchell. That must be the new student!"She said, clapping her hands together.Mitchell gestured to the new kid and he started moving his hands around.

"What's he doing?"Jerome shouted out, quite obnoxiously I might add.Mitchell smiled, his eyes glittering with amusement."He's using sign language."He said, looking at the student."His name is Adam."The new student looked a little sour at that.He signed something and Mitchell nodded."But he prefers to be called Sky I guess."He shrugged.Mrs.Baker nodded."Alright Mitchell, you can leave."She said, grabbing a piece of paper.

"Adam, you'll be sitting next to Tyler."She said, pointing at me.I raised my hand, looking at Adam. He  walked towards me, setting his bag down next to his chair and sitting.I tapped his shoulder, pointing at his notebook and at the board. He nodded, grabbing a pencil and starting on the warm-up.I had already finished, so I just sat back.A note landed on my desk, the soft fluttering paper catching my attention.

I grabbed it, opening it up and scanning over the carefully written words.I didn't want to get in trouble so I placed the note in my pocket, deciding to wait until after class to talk to him.The bell rang, the whole class standing up and rushing out the door.I turned to talk to Adam, but he was already out the door.I walked out and spotted him walking with Mitchell.I shrugged, I guess I would have to talk to him later.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Mitch's POV

I stood outside Sky's class, waiting for him.I felt a tap on my shoulder, turning around to see Sky standing there.I grinned, grabbing his schedule and  pointing at his next class. We have the next class together.I signed. He smiled, nodding.I can read lips you know.He signed at me.I nodded."Ok, good.Come on then."I said, grabbing his arm, pulling him along.

We entered our next class, instantly the smell of rancid eggs filling the room.Sky cringed. What the hell is that?'I grimaced, remembering that when you lost one sense, the others got better."That would be our teacher."I said, making sure Sky could see.He nodded, making a sour face.I sat down and patted the seat next to mine."Here."I said, pulling the chair out.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sky's POV

I sat down next to Mitch, my face still sour. That smell was freakin nasty, and what did Mitch say it was?The teacher?Oh, joy.All of a sudden, the smell hit me full force like a truck and I lurched back in my seat. The teacher walked up to me, his mouth moving at the speed of light.I held up my hands, waving them so he might stop.Mitch said something to the teacher, and he finally stopped talking. His mouth started to move slower and I could finally understand what he was saying.

'Hello!I am your science teacher, Mr. Mele. I have been informed of your situation and I hope you can read lips because you will need it!'Or I think that's what he said.He quickly walked away, the smell of rancid eggs getting farther away.I had quickly learned something about this science teacher, he was most likely loud and fast.I could barely understand him and I could tell the rest of the class felt the same. The whole room was  writing down notes at supersonic speed. I eventually just sat back, intending on copying Mitch's notes.I had gotten 'somewhat' used to the smell of rancid eggs.

The class began to pack up, and I figured it was time to go.I grabbed my bag just as the flood of people left the room.Mitch grabbed my arm again, leading me to my locker and telling me to follow him once I had put my stuff away.I closed my locker and followed Mitch while he put his stuff away. And finally, I smelt it.Lunch.My favorite time of the whole day.Mitch took off running, and I bolted after him.

I wasn't looking where I was going and collided with someone.I landed on my back, the air leaving my lungs.I gasped, trying to bring my lungs back to life.I looked around, trying to find the person I had crashed into.I finally found him, laying flat on his face.He had a pair of broken black headphones around his neck with a pair of black pants and a button up shirt- all the way buttoned up?Wow, that looked uncomfortable. He pushed himself, taking off his headphones and glaring at me before apparently regaining his composure. He stood up and walked over to me, extending a hand to help me up.

I grabbed it, hauling myself up before signing.'Sorry'.And walking away.I saw Mitch waiting by the lunchroom doors with his hands on his hips.I walked over and explained what happened before grabbing his arm and walking into the lunchroom. We grabbed our trays, getting some food and walking out.Mitch dragged me over to a table, with like three guys already sitting there.I sat down, and just as Mitch opened his mouth to introduce me, I felt a tap on my shoulder.Looking back, I saw a strict looking lady with her glasses down to the bottom of her nose.'Adam, I need you to come to the office with me.'
