Julian's POV
I look in the mirror and see a stranger looking back at me. I have gelled back hair, a pair of dress shoes and a black and white tuxedo on.
"Honey, are you ready yet?" My mom calls to my sister, Trinity.
Every set of Soulmates had to have a boy and a girl and that's it. You couldn't have more than two and you couldn't have two boys or two girls. They also had to be three years apart.
"Yes, Mom," Trinity yells back to my mother.
I walk downstairs and grab the roses that I am supposed to give my Soulmate. Every boy that gets a Soulmate has to bring a bouquet of roses to their Soulmate.
"You look so handsome, Julian! And you too, Trinity that color looks great in you just wait till you can see it too! You're pink dress looks great!" My mom squeals to my fifteen year old sister.I smile family is a number one priority in my books. I look around and realize in one year, after I see my soulmate I will see color everywhere my bedroom, my sister, Riley and Peyton. I feel sick. I'm so nervous but I'm so excited. My mom says that I have pink roses but I can only see white. I walk out the door and sit on the porch to think.
"Julian, let's go."
I must of zoned out. I walk over to the limo that picks all the boys up and hop in. I see Adam with bruises all over his face. He doesn't deserve a soulmate. As we ride I hear whispers. They are staring at me so I look down. I try to block out the muttering.
"Adam, I can't believe did that to you," says a boy.
As soon as we arrive, I jump out of the car with my roses in my hand.
I look over and see Riley. She is in a big long poofy dress. Then, I see Peyton she is in a lace fitted long dress that fits her just right. I love Riley, I really do but I think she's starting to be a distraction because every time I look at Peyton my heat beats faster and I lose my breath.
We walk in, in pairs. I'm with Riley. She must of requested me. As we walk I see that Peyton keeps glancing back at me.
We sit down at a long table and start talking and eating with each other.
The government officials walk in and take a seat the Long Table. The Long Table is where the Government votes on their public matters.
I hear a man's voice,
"My name is Governor Clarke, and I am announcing the matches today."
He droned on about colour and how life will be very different from now on. He finally started to announce the matches and as he called out the H's for the girls, I listened.
"Miranda Hakdon and Dave Money."
"Peyton Hall and Adam Price," He announced.
She looked crestfallen as she turned toward Adam. Adam smiled a wicked smile. I saw Peyton pause as she looked at Adam. She saw colour in him. I knew it.
"Julian, come here!"
I turned behind me and saw Riley.
"We're Soulmates!" She screamed.
I realized that I had missed the calling of my own name. How stupid of me. I really looked at Riley. She had red hair, green eyes, fair skin and a bit of freckles. She looked great. Her dress was a pale pink and shined in the light as she nodded towards the roses. I could still see white, the only difference in my world was I could now see colour in Riley. It would, of course expand in a year to other people.
"You have black hair, Julian," Riley said, touching it.
"You have red hair," I said to her.
I was going to have to forget about Peyton. There was no real spark there anyways, I forced myself to think. But, Peyton didn't need Adam. He didn't deserve her. I saw him sneak off to a corner with Peyton. Probably to tell her that the New York thing was just because he felt sorry for that girl. I looked around the hall. There were white walls all around me with dark engravings in them. I looked closer and saw that each engraving was meant for each generation of Soulmates. I looked around the wall some more, just to see if I could find one from ours. One caught my eye as I looked over. When I saw it, a jumble of images passed through my mind.
I saw my parents, both in colour, along with Peyton's parents, and Riley's parents. I saw all sets of parents in colour. I realized that these were the Predictions. The Predictions were engravings or designs that would show you all of the Soulmates in colour. Then, there would be a word at the end that predicted the best word to describe the group of Soulmates. I saw the word 'Remember' before the slideshow of people ended.
I went back into the crowd and grabbed a cup of black punch. As I sipped my drink, I heard a scream. A bunch of people were surrounded around the white wall. I ran to the group and pushed my way to the front. There was the hologram of the the first governor that made the Predictions and above him hovered the word, which I saw in an orange yellowish light 'WRONG'
The hologram said,
"Two people are not with their correct Soulmate."
He vanished into thin air, but the word stayed above the place where he used to be.
Riley clutched onto my arm, scared.
"How did everything get so messed up?" She inquired.
"I don't know, Riley. I don't know," I murmured under my breath.Hope you liked it!! Please comment and chapters will come faster!
